Viterbo MT

Last year my D received a wait list email on 3/20. She had auditioned at Chicago Unifieds. Thought this info might help a little as far as a timeline expectations.

Okay! Thanks @hopecladwell so it was by email only?

Yes, she received the email notifying her of wait list status, and asking her to respond to confirm she was still interested, which she did. After that, nothing further from the theatre department. But lots and lots of emails from admissions asking for a deposit, lol.

Still waiting! Hopefully next week we will know?

Some people have gotten Viterbo emails this afternoon… I have yet to

Finally got one around 3

@destiny95 yeah I think we’ve been commenting on the same The Troupe statuses! Hopefully I’ll hear, but its only 3:30 here

Congrats @destiny95, so happy for you!

Thanks so much!!!

@ABMT16 -Did you ever hear today? D still waiting on Viterbo from NY Uni’s.

And I think I said this elsewhere but YAY @destiny95!!!

@stagedoormama Nope. They have that one last audition this weekend and I think that’ll be a huge force that determine who final offers, waitlists, and rejections go to. That’s the end of what they have to choose from, so they gotta make the decisions.

@stagedoormama THANK YOU :slight_smile:

So we were admitted to the BFA Acting? Does anyone know anything about this program? We didn’t apply to acting, we applied to MT. RW’s email said acting majors take voice for 2 years and can audition for the musicals etc. We are intrigued because it is a bfa

That’s so exciting!!!

@mtmama2020, that acting training is top notch. There is a lot of crossover between the two programs. Acting and MT take many of the same acting classes, and they both equally form part of the casting pool. Freshmen audition in the fall and get cast. Many in D’s class got cast in plays and musicals this year. In addition to the many different acting classes, dance classes, etc., MT students take Musical Theater Lab and Acting students take Acting Studio. These classes occur once a year, and they are intense and go deep. Very beneficial to the students. The acting students have to take some dance, but if they want, they can also minor in dance. An acting student still wanting to improve vocally and have exposure to more choreography could join Platinum Edition, which is a show choir. Many of the Acting and BFA kids are cast simultaneously in shows. There is a straight acting major cast in their upcoming production of Shout! The Mod Musical in April. Conversely, MT students are routinely cast in straight plays. They have an exciting line-up coming up next year: Romeo and Juliet, Merrily We Roll Along, Dancing at Lughnasa, Avenue Q, and the Opera Orpheus and Euridice. There is an active improv team on campus that routinely hosts events. I think I am correct on this information, but @CanadianMTgirl would probably be able to answer many of your questions more accurately or be able to put you in touch with a BFA Acting major directly. So excited for you! If you can, I would highly recommend a campus visit, maybe in conjunction with one of their upcoming shows. Experiencing the spirit of that campus is what sealed the deal for us. What we experienced on campus was unmatched on the five different college visits that we made, including: Webster, OCU, Millikin, and Rockford. Feel free to send me a pm for more in-depth info. Best of luck!

Guess I need to look at little closer at names. Lo siento. :-/

Thanks so much for all of that!! ^ @TNMTDAD

@TNMTDAD thank you for all this information! At first I thought this was a simple deferral to a ba but it seems like much more than that. I did look up the sample classes and they seem very similar. We will definitely talk about a visit! Your post had so much information – thanks!!

We will be going for accepted student day on April 2 and are looking forward to seeing the campus, theatre and hopefully meeting some current students.
