Anybody have or can recommend a good recorder for lectures and interviews? I tried using my cell phone, and it was just garbled. I was looking at the UCLA store but I'm not sure if those recorders are more suitable for personal voice memos

i usually just compare and contrast based on online reviews and comments on products bought off of amazon

Hi, Just happened upon your post when checking latest posts. I’m a mom.

I am also a court reporter, and finding a good voice recorder is a major thing in my line of work.

I am currently using a digital recorder, Sony IC Recorder, ICD-UX70.

It records the files as MP3s, so I think you may be able to listen to them on your IPOD.

You can listen to them on your computer using Windows Media, I believe. It loads right on.

They’re only about 50 bucks right now. The mic that’s built into the recorder picks up the audio great.

I would stay away hooking up an additional mic, especially one that requires a battery, as I and coworkers have had back luck with those.

You are bringing back memories of my college days, those large lecture halls for biology and chemistry, with the premed kids fighting for first row, as they lined up their tape recorders.

If you intend to type verbatim your lectures, you can also purchase the Sony Digital Recorder software, with a foot pedal, to help you transcribe quickly.

Or you can just hire a transcriptionist!

Good luck!
