Volunteer Hours

blah, just wondering how many hours you CCer's do...I need some motivation to do more (most people in my area do about 10-15/year)..I have about 200 right now, and probably can do 150-200 more...how many hours have you done?

Ummm...I think last summer I did about 100 hours? I'll probably do another 150 or so this summer and then another 100-150 the summer after that. I volunteer at a hospital btw.

I also do volunteer for an organization that helps kids in poverty in other countries. I do work throughout the year, but it only amounts to maybe 20-30 hours a year. I think that next year I'll have a bigger role, so that means that I'll be working much, much more.

i do 3 hrs per week
calculate it urself

gosh, i think that i might have only 50 hours...i'm way behind you guys. :)

School requires 75 hours by end of junior year. I've done about 110 so far, planning to do more.

...I honestly don't keep track besides the small amount I need for NHS.
I have major moral issues with doing community service for apps. :/

I've got about 100 since the beginning of hs...I really should do some more, but I really don't have a regular opportunity to volunteer.

If you need external motivation to do volunteer work (and you've indicated that you do), it's probably the time for you to just stop doing community service, period.

Probably only around 30 (am a junior) but I'm pretty busy so I'm not worrying about it. Still doing around 2 hrs a week.

I never kept track either. so I had to guess at hours for apps.
even if you have moral issues with tracking hours for apps, they will ask, so you should try to track even if that's not the reason you're volunteering.

I'm just breaking the graduation requirement of 40 with 50 hours, but I need about 100 or so more to qualify for a few scholarships. There are a few annual projects that I have and some more activities planned for next year, so no worries.

I do like 50-100 per year. It depends....

so far bout 100

only have 150 or so hours

About 2.5 hours per week.

i have a few scattered, but essentially zero. Does that really hurt? I have strong ECs besides CS.

jcll2002:

from what I've read, it seems like most colleges prefer you do something else with your time.

anyone can do community service; it doesn't take much thought or passion.

I'm just going to stop doing community service after college apps. I have over a 100 hrs.

I don't have that many, about 10 hours. But I am working on it!

Ha, I only have about 40.
