Do your schools record your exact volunteer hours? What if your schools don't? Is there still a point to include the number of volunteer hours completed in the 'chance me' threads if the university admission officers have no way to verify or even to see them?

I volunteer at a library for x hours every week and I would just say that I’ve been doing that since 9th grade. It’s probably not much different than saying that you have 500+ hours doing something, and doing something on a frequent basis shows commitment and dedication.

It really depends on the act of volunteering, though. Like I mentioned, if it was ongoing for a while, it’s probably worth mentioning in that form. If you went to an event and you volunteered at it over a period of time, you could probably just give the specifics of the event.

^But where? In one of the essays?

^There’s a certain part on the application where you mention your accomplishments, activities etc.
