Does anyone know any good organizations that allow you to volunteer in Africa? I really want to volunteer and go there and help but the only things I can find require 18+ and I'll only be 16 this summer. Thanks in advance!

my very first bump.......

Sorry I can't answer your question... but I was wondering, what's it like living in North Dakota?

umm if you are a minor and planning on traveling by yourself to another country (especially African countries) you might have a problem with visas (some require you to be 18+).

Living in North Dakota is very slow paced and boring. Seven Nights: Ooh, thanks for that information, do you think it'd be different for Latin America?

I am thinking of volunteering in Eastern Europe this summer when I am there... I was thinking though..Do I need like a document or something to prove that?

Depends on the country and depends on your age. In order for you to travel abroad you need to have your parent's permission. There is also the thorny issue of visas (depending again where you travel).

Well, I found an organization that has trips to Nepal to work in Orphanages and they said that I can go by myself (meeting the rest of the volunteers at an airport) all I need is my parent's permission. Let's hope their right =D

I do believe that Nepal require visas. The vast majority of non-Euro/Japan/Aussie nations require visas. But I might be wrong. Check the SD (State Department) for more info.

check out youngpeacebrigades.org, they allow 17 year olds to volunteer abroad in Africa but not sure about 16 year olds
