<p>does it matter to med schools if the work experience you get in a hospital is paid or unpaid? (when comparing 2 similar jobs like an office assistant volunteer or a paid office assistant, not comparing a gift shop worker to an emergency room volunteer)</p>
<p>I think you need both to get into a good med school, because most schools will want a student that has had work experience to see how working feels but also volunteer experience just to give back to the community and be well rounded and blah.. lol</p>
<p>I don't think it would matter (or it may vary between schools). I was looking at a medical school website (Dalhousie University) and it said that the admissions people didn't care if the students were paid, just as long as they had some sort of medical-related experience.</p>
