Volunteering

So I used to volunteer at the Veteran Affairs hospital 4 days a week, 7 hours a day. My parents are making me volunteer only 2 times a week now, because they want me to study SAT and ACT. I just finished my freshman year, so I don't see why they made me do this. Is 2 times a week going to hurt my chances in getting into a good school?

What is more important, a stellar SAT and ACT score or 200 more hours of volunteering? Definitely the scores, the colleges consider them much more and give them higher priority than volunteer work. This is not to say that volunteering isn’t important, because it is, but I doubt this will hurt your chances. Colleges look at hours not days of the week, and you can always make up for lost volunteer hours during the summer!

Your parents are right, if you want to have a great score(2100+) then you should get to studying earlier!
