<p>I am currently a freshman at SLU. I was originally awarded the VP scholarship and then received the Presidential Finalist Scholarship. The VP scholarship is roughly $16,000. However, by the summer, they may increase the scholarship amount depending on the funding they have for the year. For example, my finalist scholarship increased two thousand dollars before the beginning of the semester. </p>

<p>@gingeroo Did you receive a letter or email indicating they increased it to $20,000? I did notice on the web site that the VP Scholarship one-pager now lists the amount as being $20,000. Just curious if they notified you as well.</p>

I looked and it looks like last year they started mailing out letters about this time, we should hear soon!
They are starting to make calls about Presidential now…my daughter just received a call about an hour ago. Maybe we’ll all be meeting each other in a few weeks in St. Louis!
Congrats on the interview for presidential scholarship! Do you know what weekends are options to visit SLU for the interview? I think there may be two weekends in February but don’t know that for sure.
@AnneG4 My DD received an invite for Feb 12-14.
I have seen references indicating they had two weekends in the past, but they didn’t give her an option to choose a weekend.
I have a relative who received one of these for ~17K about 10 years ago, her parents tried to point out that even with this ‘discount’ it would still cost her much more that state schools. She was blinded by this scholarship and wouldn’t listen, years later she is still working (at a job that doesn’t even require a degree no less) to pay off a crushing debt load. Think twice and make sure you are getting a degree that will actually get you a decent paying job. Plus SLU is in a very sketchy part of STL, I wouldn’t venture 3 blocks off campus at night unarmed.
