I was recently accepted into VT’s School of Neuroscience and VCUs Honor College. I would like to know your opinion of which school is better for an upcoming pre-med student who will likely major in either neuroscience or chemistry. My first choice was William and Mary but I got waitlisted.
You can be admitted to medical school from a lot of places if you have a strong GPA and MCAT. So the key is to choose a place you think you will be comfortable, do well, and prepare for the MCAT. VCU has had a guaranteed medical school admit program (in the past at least), and that would certainly be worth considering if you are eligible.
I had a nephew who did honors college at George Mason, but transferred to UVA. He thought he had better quality of teaching (access to professors, special classes, etc.) at GMU, but he definitely preferred the overall experience at UVA. I’m not sure how this would translate to VCU Honor College and VT, but thought I would relay it.
