Waahh M A J O R S T R E S S

Anyone else feeling the heat?... esp for those EA'ers??

well here's a good story: i just found out today that one of my teachers hasn't even started my rec. it's not what you think. i didn't turn in my info to him last minute. but listen to this: i asked him at the beginning of the year. he told me to write these three essays for him to help him w/ the rec. i turn everything in to him by the end of september b/c he demanded it at least a 4-5 week. and guess what?? he still hasn't gotten to it. ROAR.

+my essays stink and i'm not done w/ them. I'm mailing them in and probably won't get to it until NOV 1. what happens if it gets lost in the mail??? will they allow you to resend even if it's past the deadline? (omg don't these questions reveal my obvious extreme paranoia and stress??)
i just got my parents to complete CSS and it won't arrive by nov 1 (anyone know if that will be a problem...or does stanford want it electronically instead of the paper version?)

aaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh

yeah its killer

i have a few questions also... how long can the essays be? i've only ever heard of character counts and that seems sort of vague and hard to pinpoint.

also, i was wondering how big of an impact the counselor rec has on admissions. i don't think my counselor wrote me a stellar rec or one that really shows me personally...should iget an optional rec?

And does anyone else notice that "Interdisciplinary Studies in the Humanities" is listed on the paper app but not the online app?

I thought it could be as many characters as you could cram into those boxes provided on the app. I'm not sure how the online app works but I've got the paper one in front of me, and it's basically 1/4 of a page for each short answer and about 5/6 of a page for the long answer.

the online apps character count has been in pretty much every other thread - they changed it recently, but not by much. it's now 1500-1600 chars for 2 short essays, 1400-1500 for another short essay and around 4900 chars for the long one.

Hey guys, here's my picture essay:

I’m just wondering, but do most Stanford applicants get stellar counselor recs? Do their counselors usually check “one of the few I’m seen in my career” or “Top 5%” or “Above average”?

Counselor recs: I guess stanford will understand if they're not spectacular esp. if you come from a big school where its impossible for counselor to get to know you well. I'm sure they put a lot more stress on the teacher recs... which is bad for me.

Yeah, those check boxes are nerveracking. i'm having awful nightmares of what my teachers are checking for them.

I'm having a lot of trouble cutting down essay length, so i just changed the marigins, ignoring the box on the paper app that they drew, and just pasting it. when i tried online, the box accepted the entire essay even though it was way over the character limit, but i feel more comfortable applying paper. anyone else doing that?
