wait-list acceptances

Did any of those who have been called off the list submit an additional letter of interest/updated achievements? Just curious.

Yes. My son got off the list on May 5. On April 30, he emailed the regional recruiter an update. It included a very recent state championship in an extracurricular activitity and a personal statement showing how Princeton can benefit him and how he can benefit Princeton.

My D also got off the WL on 5/5, and yes, she submitted a very brief letter with a couple of updates. She also stated that she’d definitely attend if offered acceptance (and happily lose her deposit at her other school).

I don’t know if it mattered or not.

any news about second round of acceptances?

So they probably filled close to half the spots with the first wave? Killing myself over here - Princeton or Rice? Yeah, there’s a definitely obvious choice. sigh There was a gap between regular admissions and first wave, so perhaps second wave will come next week. They probably give room for a potential three waves, and that’s spaced over close to 8 weeks, so that would make sense for next week or possibly even first week of June.

crosses fingers

im guessing they filled a little more than half of the spots with the first wave. from what I have read, waitlist yields tend to be higher than the regular yield, or at least about the same.

this may just be wishful thinking
but the first wave came out may 5th right? giving just about 4 days for them to figure our how many theyd want to take off the waitlist? now since the waitlist isn’t ranked, and apparently they want to take off around a 100, im guessing theyll take some time figuring out who to take off. SO looking at the REALLY short time frame between may 1st and the first wave, I hardly think they accept a 100 off the list straight off. I think they’d probably do it slowly, as they get an idea of what’s missing, what they need.

Then again, this may just be me rambling and holding on to straws. But hey, I’ve still got hope :)

Computergeek & NJDS…what makes you think 1/2 the kids (50) were called? Was this printed or is it simply conjecture? Just curious where you’re drawing the numbers.

Every post on this thread makes me shiver… I keep expecting the next post to be: OMG I GOT ACCEPTED!

I apologise; it’s all conjecture at this point. The only number of which I am aware is actually the number (100) of possible acceptees from the waitlist. It would seem that they would at least make a majority offer of positions for the first wave though.

EDIT:

I know exactly how you feel. >.<

PrincetonAlum

I read somehwere that the male:female ratio for ED at Princeton was unbelievably skewed to the male side. Do you know anything about that?

There is no current ED at Princeton. Are you talking about ED in the past?

MSauce, that was true in the past when Princeton had ED, but they no longer do. The relevant article from the Daily Princetonian is here: [Construction, admissions discussed at CPUC meeting - The Daily Princetonian](http://www.dailyprincetonian.com/2010/05/05/26099/).

Here’s the relevant paragraph from that article:

After eliminating early decision, “the pool balanced itself out in terms of men and women,” which was “actually interesting, and not something either expected or intuitive,” Rapelye said. “It was always a concern for us that we always had about 1,000 more men applying in the past when we had early decision.”

Another day…
THIS IS KILLING ME, WHY ARE THEY TORTURING US. I want to either be accepted or not, I just want to know for sure what’s going to be announced with my name on graduation day :(

Honestly I know. I check my email every other second for something from either Princeton or Yale and then I check CC also waiting for someone from the second wave to post I got accepted. Being waitlisted isn’t the funnest (sp or is that even a word) place to be.

So now that their office mustve closed, either they didnt call anyone or they did and I’m not one of them. either ways one more day gone. urgh. well, i’ll be here tomorow :stuck_out_tongue:
you know even if the second wave is out, we may never know…not EVERYONE is on CC after all…has anyone called and asked them for the status?

I got the call this morning!!!

The call from my mom telling me to pick up my brother…hehe

@wlpc: You, sir, are an ass.

xD

Dost thou not suspect my place? dost thou not suspect my years? O that he were here to write me down an ass! But, masters, remember that I am an ass; though it be not written down, yet forget not that I am an ass.
Come, bring away the plaintiffs: by this time our sexton hath reformed Signior Leonato of the matter: and, masters, do not forget to specify, when time and place shall serve, that I am an ass.

…Just a little levity to lighten the stress we’re all feeling! :-)

Precisely the reference to which I was terribly alluding! Thank you KHA  One of my favourite (although Hamlet completely owns the title of best)…

Shakespeare debate?

We could start “Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune…” and apply that monologue here! ;)
