WLPC… I’m going chop you up.

When do u guys think the second wave will hear back?

I just contacted the Princeton admissions officer. Now the spots will be filled through a rolling admissions process. She also said that there is no more quota to fill out. There won’t be a “mass email” or anything of the like.

So there’s probably a chance that we might not know if we get off the waitlist till after June. that really blows. I’m near the point of giving up on being accepted.

Seattleyj:

Sorry, this might be a stupid question, but what exactly does “rolling admissions process” mean?

Gahhh, second wave, come out already!

it means they’ll tell each student one by one. In the sense that they’ll keep reviewing applications and informing waitlistees until all spots have been filled which means there isn’t any particular date for the decisions to come out. It could go on till june which frankly really sucks. :(

sharts05, what does ‘there isnt any quota to fill’ mean?
Urgh this stinks.
did they say anything else, like how many have already been filled out etc and WHY THEYRE TAKING SO LONNGGG.

That’s rather disheartening >.<

basically universities have certain demographic gaps they try to fill with their waitlisted candidates by may 1st (quota for engineers, pre med etc). So no quotas mean now theyre just going to be randomly filling spaces available, theyre not looking for a particular type of candidate. i dont know if thats a good or bad thing. what i really wanna know is how many people got taken off in the first wave. thats crucial.

i shouldve just posted this to make things clearer:

[University expects to take roughly 100 students off waitlist to fill demographic gaps - The Daily Princetonian](http://www.dailyprincetonian.com/2010/05/14/26171/)

hey guys
just popped over from the Harvard WL thread. rejected from H today but I’m actually still waiting on P. I’m an international from Aus and my chances were better at H just because the number of admits from Aus was a lot lower to H than P. I think P already has around the number they want from my country…
reeeaally hoping for good news but prepared for bad

Oh, right. Those quotas. That actually makes me feel better… applied with Physics major, clarinet instrument, from Florida, white … xD All of the above aren’t particularly unique (albeit not not unique) just for the given examples shrug

I need them to look at my entiiiiire app again. Freaking loved my essays - they were even better than my MIT and Stanford ones, and those were my top choices by far.

On the Harvard board, it looks like some people are getting off the waiting list today. Crossing fingers that some of them previously committed to Princeton…

soo wait
now that the quotas are filled up, are chances are based on BLIND LUCK?
haha that bums me out. I dont think I’m very lucky. Here’s to change, and some renewed faith in luck :P:)

Not blind luck, no. Basically now people don’t get preferential treatment for being in a certain geographical area or whatever - it’s essentially like Regular Admissions all over again with the waitlisted applicants. 'Cept now all the people you’re competing with are generally better. So… lol.

I called today, they said they’ve accepted about 100. What year did the take 146 kids off the waitlist? Because I think they said they we’re taking a certain number of people off (like 100), then they ended up adding 46 more?

ouch they’ve already accepted 100. that made our chances 0.00000ish
sidewinder thanks for the information, atleast I wont be desperately waiting now. if it happens it happens.

Just because they’ve accepted 100 doesn’t mean that 100 have matriculated. We’re also not sure if that 100 is the total amount expected (100 off the waitlist for demographics alone, perhaps?). Either way, the yield for waitlist is high, but still probably less than 90% (I would be willing to wager). That means they’ve probably still got double digits spots open. At least, I hope so. I wouldn’t give up quite yet, especially since they have said they’re still rolling. 100 were accepted… how many were rejected? There were 900 that elected to stay on the list, 100 accepted, 100 rejected, perhaps? shrug Just speculating. Keep your hopes up!

I don’t know computergeek…I mean what are the odds? One can keep coming up with reassurances etc (I know I have), but I guess its better to not hope, and be pleasently surprised. Wow I think I’ve changed my attitude 5 times on this thread itself. See what anticipation does to you
I think I may just call and ask them straight off how many theyre indending to take off…I mean seriously, I hate the uncertainty.

I got a call from Princeton today. They offered me a spot off of the waitlist! I just thought you all would be interested in knowing since you are waitlisted as well. I don’t know if me being offered admission is a negative or positive from everyone else. I’m taking up a spot, but it means that there’s still hope, I think.
