Wait List Question

So my college counselor is a Haverford alumna. I was wondering if maybe I should have her call and see why I was waitlisted and maybe see if she can put in a good word for me about the waitlist. My stats arent't bad.
GPA: 4.0 UW (No idea what it would be weighted), 19th in my class of 722
Classes: Pretty much all gifted/honors 5 AP classes (5's on the exams)
Recs: Good I was even told I had one of the best college counselor recs my schools ever saw.
Extracurriculars: Golf Team 3 years, captain this year
Student Produced Musical Theatre- 4 years, 2 years as
bandleader
Fed Challenge 2 years, Pres. this year
Orchestra/Band 4 years as an oboist
Literary Magazine Joined this year as an editor and writer
Social Science Research Program- I won one award, was quarterfinalist in a competition and wrote an Intel paper
Korea Society Project Bridge- I'll be taking part in a 10-day all expenses paid study tour of Korea- only 10% of applicants were accepted
Summa Cum Laude on Two National Latin Exams
Summer Course at Columbia in Creative Writing

And now the reason why I was probably waitlisted
SAT: 1950/1290
SAT II'S: US HIST. 770 FRENCH 640 MATH 2 560

I made Oberlin which I'm fine with and I also made NYU Tisch's dramatic writing which is a great program but I dunno I still think I'd like to keep Haverford open. Would my college counselor's call help? Thanks guys!

Oberlin is a fine school as you know, so congrats.
I doubt she will be able to get you the specific details as to why you were waitlisted. Admissions, as you know, is not a science but rather many times (especially at small hard to get into LACs) is a murky process hard to pinpoint... and remember... especially between those who were accepted and waitlisted, as resume differences may be quite relative. I don't think her phone call will make much difference, and in fact, if that is the only intervention you are planning to rely on, may work against you... as it doesn't show much initiative and passion. You should definitely write a letter or place the call, yourself... in addition to anything your counselor will do.

good luck

i would if i were you. haverford is a great school. maybe write them an essay to let them know that haverford is still you 1st choice. between nyu and oberlin, i'll go with nyu. oberlin isnt that good of a school anymore, it used to be 10+years ago. now it's not even a top 20 LAC.
