Well that's interesting. I wonder why Barnard would cut their normal class size by about 90 positions.

Give it a rest, vladimir. We're waiting for an official decision, and that's fine. I've planned my freshman year out at Smith, and I'm sure everyone else has planned their year already. I'm not going to be crushed if they don't decide to take anyone; I come to this board because I'm curious if they have. It's not that big of a deal. Maybe instead of being so adamant about trying to get a bunch of 18 year old girls to believe what you say, you should concentrate on your own child's college experience.

NB, you're otherwise going to Smith? I need to register myself as biased, of course. But I don't think you'll be disappointed. As a group...and I've met several dozen students...they're extremely impressive and some of the opportunities are staggering. Do you have any EC interests for college?

I know Smith will be wonderful, and I'm excited. My only concern is the fact that Smith is more isolated than I'm used to, but I'm sure that will blow over.

I'm planning on majoring in Government and Econ, trying to find some space to do math and french courses as well. Their abroad program (the exact same program Barnard has) is wonderful, and I hope to study in Paris junior year. As for EC's, I'm trying to get into the Five College Choir, or at least manage to sing at UMass (I don't like singing in women's choirs too much). I want to be involved in musicals, as well. I love Model UN, and I'm definitely planning on doing that.

NB, PM or e-mail me if as the time draws near for input about Gov profs. As for Econ, there's a really hot (academically) Econ prof at Amherst that by all accounts is worth taking the shuttle for.

My D had had similar concerns about NoHo being isolated...she had spent her whole life in the Los Angeles area...and she has found it no problem. Actually, that understates it...she loves NoHo.

I had heard that the class of 2008 at Barnard was about 540, looking on the website it says 560. So yes, I would certainly like to bet my house on it.

Seriously, just drop it. What do you care? Perhaps you can concentrate on something more worthwhile than attempting to insult a teenager. May I suggest badminton...or perhaps golf? They help to pass the time.

It has been an incredbily long wait, and I've heard from all schools except Barnard. If they underestimated students, then why weren't the rejection letters out 2 weeks ago when the stats came out?
