Umass amherst was my safety school. Not to say that I thought it was below me, but it was my safety net. I know many people from my school who got in and their stats are below mine. Now that I have been heating back from colleges I had been banking on umass be side I think it is the only place I can afford. Worst case scenario I have a good financial aid package from Arcadia U, but I don't see myself there.

I don't know what to do. I'm confused and scared and upset. Can somebody explain my chances and give the run down on what to do

I see this is a new thread but you never mentioned if you were actually wait-listed if you were wait-listed was it by snail mail? or Spire ? I cannot understand how a major University cannot update its online notifications throughout the day rather than only once per day. waiting for the mail delivery is sooooo 20th century

Sorry you got waitlisted. Last year 3808 students were offered a place on the waitlist, 1346 accepted, and 566 were offered admission. So the first thing you need to do is accept your place on the list. It looks like you have better than a one in three chance of being accepted if you do. You also need to make alternate plans, if you end up having to go to another school, but still want Umass, contact admissions and find out what your best path would be to eventually transfer in. Good luck.

If you’re waitlisted, the first thing is to officially accept the position on the wait list, as previously mentioned. It probably matters less at a State school like UMass, but it can’t hurt to write a note or email telling them you will definitely accept the offer to come off the waitlist if you get it, while at the same time reiterating how much you want to attend UMass. Admissions reviewers are human too.
