Wait listed classes

I was online at exactly 8am but was unable to get most of the classes I wanted. I am wait listed for Hebrew and I am wait listed for financial accounting. What is the likelihood I get off the wait list? The Hebrew wait list has 2 on it but the class is only 15. Financial accounting has 4 with a class of 70. If I get off the wait list how do they notify me?

Right now I have math 1200, economics, CS 1101, CS1151. And MGRL 1100.
Is this schedule to much? If I was able to get Hebrew, I would only take 4 classes rather than 5, but I am not comfortable with only 12 credits if I don’t get Hebrew. Any info would be much appreciated.

Also, is it best to email the professor in an attempt to get off the wait list?

For financial accounting the likelihood of getting off the waitlist is pretty high. For Hebrew it is slightly lower, but you still have decent odds. You will get a notification on YES and they send an email to your Vandy account. Registration is always a pain at Vandy. Even when I was a senior I couldn’t get one of the classes I wanted(calligraphy). Emailing the prof could work, but I’d wait until August to let things settle out. Some classes have a fixed number of seats, while other classes are more flexible. If you can’t get off the waitlist before classes start just show up the first day. People always drop out the first few days of classes.

As far as your current class schedule it looks pretty easy. Math 1200 will be the hardest of your classes, but from what I’ve heard it isn’t that bad. Just want to let you know that while CS1151(the ethics class) is an easy A, it does not count towards the CS minor or the CS major if you are an A&S student.

Email the professors and show up on the first day. I took financial accounting with Garber and a couple of people who had enrolled dropped out. He took in the people on the wait-list. There’s also a lot of activity during the add-drop period so don’t lose hope! But make sure you have back-up classes because wait lists are unpredictable.

Thanks @Vandy93 , @Sophie1295 . I actually got into Hebrew already. I am just waiting on financial accounting. Is Garber an ok professor?. It looks like when I registered I was either 1 or 2 on the wait list so hopefully I will be able to get off the list. Any info on MGRL 1100 that you can share? The professor is McClure. It is what I am registered for unless I get financial accounting. I am registered for 16 credits. I may drop down to 13, but I think I can wait on that until I am closer to when school starts, is that correct? Thanks again for your help.

Yeah, Garber is pretty easy and the class is an easy A. It doesn’t matter who you take it with. Goodyear and Trentham are good too.

From what I’ve heard Garber is an ok professor but is boring. That is expected as accounting is a pretty dry subject but Goodyear did her best to make it interesting. Goodyear also didn’t assign mandatory HW and let us out of class early most days. If Goodyear is teaching a section this fall and it fits in your schedule I’d take it with her. If you can’t don’t worry about it. It will still probably be an easy A.

Don’t know about McClure but the class should be pretty easy. And you have some time after classes start to drop down to 13 hours. Check the academic calendar for the exact dates of the add/drop period.

Goodyear doesnt work for my schedule, but even if she did her classes were closed before i was able to register. I feel for those who register next week. It was hard enough to find open classes this week. I have almost everything on long MWF days, and very little TR. Not what I wanted, but most T-Th classes were full.
