I got wait listed at both SCS and CIT. The thing is that I really want to attend SCS, I don't care about CIT and I don't even know why I applied. Now I feel bad because I won't make the priority wait list. Are there any chances for me to get off the wait list? What should I do? I'm an international student.

What’s a ‘priority’ wait-list ? I checked my decision online and it just says CIT - Waitlist. Is this something that was mentioned in your acceptance packet? I haven’t receive the packet yet …

If you only applied to CIT (and not any other college at Carnegie Mellon) you are offered the option to be on the priority waiting list. It’s not really that special, but you are more likely to be offered a space if you accept. The catch is that if you are accepted off the priority waitlist, you must put down your deposit within 24 hours. You might have to put down a deposit at CIT before you know about your waitlist status at another school.

Jesus, who didn’t get waitlisted at SCS and CIT? I did too!

I am so angry and sad! Waitlisted at Tepper I really, really wanted to go.

I was waitlisted at CIT too! I have a question as well btw.

So I was reading a blog post on the CMU site, and one person whether waitlist was need blind. The admission person responded “…Applying for financial aid will have no effect on your chances for regular admission. It may have an effect, however, on those students we are able to admit from the waiting list…” Does anyone know if someone like me with an EFC of like 1K (low income) even has a chance of getting off waitlist? I feel like that comment is basically kindly saying low-income students are not likely to get off waitlist, and I have no chance at all even if I do priority.

I am really sad.
Cmu was my first choice and I was above the 75 percentile in all my test scores, had a 4.0 gpa with 10 APs, had great ec’s and awards including USCHO semifinalist, amazing reccommendations, a great interview, and a good essay(although writing is not my strong suit).

I really don’t know why I was waitlisted to CIT and it’s killing me. Two other people at my school with equally strong stats were accepted to CIT and it just hurts because I know those 2 people are more interested in other schools.

Anyone know what the odds of getting in off the waitlist for CIT are? I’m not sure if I’ll even be accepted off the waitlist though as I have a lot of financial need.

Yea, that just made my heart sink as well. I only have an EFC of about 11k or so. Also, do you guys think if I updated the school with extreme demonstrated interest, as well as
