I was a wait-listed student and recently got into UCONN. They gave me a call and asked if they should send the stuff so I said yes. So far all I recieved was an admission letter but no financial aid letter. Is financial aid still offered to wait-listed students? I really would like to attend UCONN but I cannot afford to pay the out of state tuition prices.

I'm sure they'll still be able to offer need-based aid, but since you're an OOS student don't plan on it being very much at all. Even if you're from lets say a lower middle class family, I would expect the price to still be 25K+. Also, UConn has no more work study's left, so maybe it will be more than 25. I would take a bet at 27-28.

Also, to be considered for MERIT based aid you have to have at least a 1320 I think (1320 on the old SAT score). That's just to be considered...no guarantee at all.

Dirk, was UNH able to offer you a good financial aid package? If they were, maybe UConn can offer something similar? Give them a call. I am assuming that you are oos for UNH too.

I just recently called the Financial Aid office at UCONN. They told me they had nothing in my file yet and to call back in a couple of days so they could figure it out. I'm assuming this means I'm not really getting anything. I got accepted under the New England Regional Tuition Break thing since my major (Actuarial Science) is not offered in Massachusetts. This means I will be able to go for 150% of IN state tuition. However this would still come out to about 23 K a year which I can't really afford. UNH gave me about 15K/year between Grants Scholarship and Work Study so that is looking pretty affordable. How would I go about seeing if UConn can offer me a simalar package? Thankyou for all of your help.
