What are the chances of being accepted after being put on the wait list?

About 50% last year

Whoa, where’d you get that statistic?

Thanks. Wow, that’s a big change from Fall 2011 when 0 students were admitted from the waiting list. This shows that there is great variance from year to year and you can’t take that 50% figure as any indicator of this year’s class.

Good point. I was remiss for not elaborating.

Regardless, working up a first class letter to Smith’s Dean of Admissions as to “why” you would be a fine admit from the waitlist would not hurt the applicant. I’d include any new objective data to reinforce your case.
