Waiting for COSMOS 2011!

Okay, my application status says “not accepted” as of March 11. However, everything else below it says “Y” and they got my teacher recs. I also have “not set” in mine. Anyone know what this means? :(

means you are not accepted?

But the date says March 11 ?

@jesskidding: I was talking about the waivers and stuff that you have to fill out and sign AFTER you get accepted.

you can try emailing them, but i wouldnt count on it.

^Haha, yeah I later realized.

@ayjaycee24, I think it means you aren’t accepted because everyone’s date is the date they submitted in their application, I believe. I don’t think it means much. I personally don’t even have my application status updated yet, so hopefully UCI will clear everything up soon…

Did anyone hear back from UCSD?

Sigh, still haven’t heard from UCI yet…

checked my UCI application… it says “not accepted” and my cluster says “not set.”
darn, i was really hoping i’d get in too!

i only applied to the biomedical cluster… should’ve signed up for the psychoacoustics.
hope whoever gets in has a GREAT time at cosmos. :)

^When did you get yours?

Gah. Didn’t get in. Have fun to those who did though.

@turtlesandowls Yeah, I got in a few weeks ago.

anyone from california going to UCDavis?

Is there anyone who got accepted to UCI cluster 8 (world of Molecules) who is not planning to go?

I am waitlisted and trying to see I have a chance . Thanks

Got into UCD Cluster 2: Physics w/ Electro-optics, Nuclear Tech.! I don’t think it was very competitive because I got in with a 3.73 U and 3.94 W and I BSed my essays. I think my teacher recs are what got me in. New Mexico sounds fun!

I am waitlisted for the cluster Video and Game Design at UCSC. When are they going to let me know whether I got accepted or not?

My, can’t believe I haven’t posted any of my questions about COSMOS here. I’m in Cluster 2 (Astrophysics) at UCI. For those that are going there, I’ll be very excited to meet as many of you as possible!

I have to admit I’m a little worried about how I’ll be in comparison to the others who got accepted. Many of you almost seem like geniuses compared to me. I love math and science but I don’t think I can fully pull off being one of the most intelligent students here in California.

@megChai:
Hey! I’m also doing Cluster 2 at UCI. (most likely) I was feeling the exact same thing! Because I’m only decent at math, and don’t possess any crazy math or science skills, hahah. But it’ll be fun, regardless. :)

I wouldn’t get too worked up about stats. Since this is a state subsidized program, they will want the demograhics to match that of the state, and also give opportunities to disadvantaged students. That is why you will see huge disparities in the students that get accepted. Some have “dismal” gpa’s and no extracurricular activities, but still get in.

lol thanks for me making me feel “disadvantaged.” well, like someone said earlier, it’s not mostly about the GPA but more about showing your desire to learn about science/math in your essays.
