Also, Total of 5 APs and 3 Honors classes
Still nothing here. My son has 1390 SAT and 4.1 GPA
Similar stats, little higher on GPA, DS got a yes this morning for COE. Best of luck!
When we talk about, for example, Penn State wanting to see a 3.8 GPA - is that weighted or unweighted?
Also, now I’d love to find data on whether PSU will update portals multiple times per day. If anyone checked this morning and found no update (despite evidence that PSU updated overnight) and then checked again later and found an update, please share. It will help the rest of us know whether we should bother with frequent checking. ?
Thank you, and Congratulations to all of those accepted!
From what I’ve seen mainly college of engineering has been sending out acceptance letters. Does anyone know possibly when DUS will start sending out their acceptances.?
Anyone know if the portal changes at all when a decision is coming? ?
@pretzelgirl , thank you for that info. Were the 3.8 or better GPAs weighted or unweighted?
@OceanIsle There have been times when the portal was slow to load, and I thought, Oooh, this is it. And it wasn’t. ? I feel like in the case of everyone who was accepted today, it must have updated late. I checked around 10pm, and nothing had changed. I had no idea we’d wake up this morning and there would be a decision.
We haven’t seen anyone accepted from DUS at all. Hang in there!
However, now that I think of it, last night the portal wasn’t automatically logging her off if she left the page. (Usually as soon as she’d leave the page she’d have to log back in.) Last night she was staying logged in for some reason and even refreshing didn’t log her off. We had to actually click “log off”. Not sure if that meant anything or not.
Did this happen to anyone else?
Interesting. We only check via phones but for my son, it often leaves him logged in so for my S20 it definitely doesn’t mean a decision is pending. ?
@OceanIsle We only use phones as well. Not sure why she was logged out each time she left the page.
@OceanIsle Off the subject, what does S20 mean? I’ve seen S19 somewhere else, so I know there’s something I’m not understanding.
@Mlo625 , S20 generally means a son that is Class of 2020.
D19 would mean daughter, Class of 2019.
Sometimes you will see DS20 or DD20 and I believe that means “Dear Son/Daughter” or “Darling Son/Daughter” or something like that but D18 and DD18 both mean the same thing (daughter Class of 2018).
DH means husband.
That’s my understanding anyway? ?
I should note that I’ve seen some people use S25 to denote the age of that son (age 25) but generally here on College Confidential people are referencing high school graduation year.
@OceanIsle Thank you!!! ?
@OceanIsle unweighted I believe.
More has it that just before a decision is given, the picture changes.
I don’t always mind the checking and sometimes it’s fun. But if I knew for sure there would be no updates after 6pm or none on weekends, etc., that would be preferable.
And if I had a dime for every time my heart skipped a beat because at first glance I thought I saw something different when I logged in…it would help toward all of these upcoming college expenses. ?
What does the photo change from and to?? I have a building now.
Daughter just got accepted!

I just received a decision this morning. I was denied from the Architecture major, but not from the entire college. They encouraged me to apply to the Landscape Architecture program or a different program instead. My SAT was 1210 and GPA was 3.6, which I knew were low but I was hoping my extracurriculars and leadership positions would help me. I also knew that the architecture program was competitive, but I did not know they only accept 60 first-year students into the program. I had a feeling my decision would come down to choosing PSU or CU Boulder, so maybe this is a sign, but I am still debating applying to landscape architecture or a different program. Has anyone else received a similar decision?
I spoke with Admissions this morning and asked whether the decisions come out once per day or whether it’s worth it to check more often. She said that she “used to tell people that it’s only 1x per day but now it seems as though they are coming out every four hours or so.”
She also said not to be concerned if we “hear of kids who applied later getting decisions sooner; there really isn’t a rhyme or reason and it seems to be confusing about how they whittle down the different categories.”
I don’t think she was an actual admissions counselor since she kept referencing “they” but I can’t be sure.
Her information about the timing did not seem to be set in stone and, rather, seemed more observational so I guess we can all add it to our other anecdotal information in this adventure. ?
