If we are including all of them, and we want to split hairs IMO
Thx!
How much money did you get from IU and tOSU? You will not get any from Wisconsin or Michigan. How much does the price difference matter to you and your family? From just a general college experience/ town perspective I would put them:
- Wisconsin
- Michigan
- tOSU
- IU
- UMD
Iâm following along as well⊠S has received unexpectedly good scholarships from Florida State, Purdue, Ohio State, and Minnesota so far. IU scholarship as well, but their tuition was a lot higher so net cost is way more. Waiting on UGA merit (hopefully) as well as FL decision next week. I think all of these are good business school options, not sure if any is so much better than the others at this point. Itâs a great position for S to be in, but my other kids were stem majors so I am out of my element for business school rankings and reputations.
Michigan does offer some need-based (not full) aid to OOS students, but a merit aid offer to an OOS student would be ârare as henâs teeth.â
@Eeyore123 i got $13500 plus $1000from OSU and $12000 from IU. I heard Wisconsin is giving money to freshman this year, it that a rumor?
I got into UGA in October. I got $15000 from them. And FSU is paying me to attend lol
Ok here is a question about all these schools. Are any of them offering face to face classes?
@s16s18s21s25 did you apply to UGA EA?
Itâs my son, yes. He was accepted and auto admit to honors, not sure why no merit yetâthey wonât issue any more until after RD comes out, but said there are definitely more coming.
@s16s18s21s25 ok, you did follow up, bc my D got a letter a week after regarding merit. UGA has a pretty standard merit program, so it doesnât make sense. I am sure you will find out soon, but definitely follow up.
Yeah, in light of getting honors, and his stats (4.58W, 34 ACT, 12 APs, etc), and the 16k from OSU, 14k from FSU, 22k from Minnesota, 10k from Purdue, (but only 9k from IU), I was really hoping for that 15k from Georgia, especially since he was admitted into honors.
If you are OOS, UGA seems to give 1/2 OOS waiver ($9500 my daughter got) or full. Not sure thereâs a $16K.
We got $11K from IU but my daughter decided it was time to start cutting the list - and didnât apply to the SSA.
10K at Purdue is impressive btw - my son got it two years ago - but they give few students merit. My son had a 34 ACT. His friend a 36 and got nothing and ended up at U Tenn.
You have options - thatâs awesome. Other than the cold UMN can be a great option.
Yeah, whatever the amount is at UGA would be great, I thought someone said there was a 15k, Iâve looked at soooo many sites itâs hard to keep track. Doubt heâd get the full waiver like at FSU. Half waiver probably wouldnât cut it for us in light of the other optionsâS also didnât do the SSA at IU (that was a lot of effort!). My oldest also had the Pres at Purdue and graduated last year in CS (mind you, with a 36M, 35C, didnât get direct admittance into OSU for CS, believe it or not). S3 has applied to business, so itâs a different ballgame. Heâs admitted into the integrated bus & engineering at Purdue, so thatâs a real option as well. Going to see UMN next week. We live in TN but had about 8 inches of snow and ice for the last week so it wontâ be as shocking a transition. S2 is at Iowa State (about 3 hrs south of UMN) and rarely wears a jacket, so weather might not be an issue for this kid.
@s16s18s21s25 i think $9200 is the minimum at UGA.
Now I am adding UF to the mix. Got in last night honors college, with BF, FPP, take free college or take better job opportunities in the northeast?
Unless accepted to Michigan. I think itâs in a league of its own.
Hmmmm. Even if itâs Murray State you go free. So UF definitely.
There are no guarantees. UM has struggling grads like everyone else.
Free is good.
