Waitlisted as well… whatever. Not going to be accepting my spot.

I’m an international student and i got waitlisted at midd after getting rejected by amherst… so currently its not the ideal situation. I’m definitely not expecting Pomona or Brown now based on the results so far… I guess I’ll stay on the list but its all a lil depressing right now haha

I also got waitlisted, and was sorta surprised about it. Out of the 6 or so top-tier schools I applied to, I was most confident about Middlebury.
I don’t think I’m going to take the spot, because I’d rather go to a school that accepts me right off the bat.
Luckily, I’ve gotten into Vanderbilt and Boston College so far, so I’m not all too heart broken about being waitlisted.

another waitlisted here. Definitely won’t take a spot though. I am too scientific for Middlebury, while Middlebury is not scientific enough for me. :(

Waitlisted… at least we’re not alone. I wish they hadn’t taken away the essay, that could’ve really made a difference.

While I can understand the hesitancy to remain on a waiting list when you may have some other great options, I don’t agree with the latter part of your sentence above. While I am not sure what you mean by your being too scientific, Midd has great science facilities and opportunities, especially for the size of school it is.

I just think this wait-list as a rejection seeing how little percentage of wait-lists get even accepted with one year having 0%

I was waitlisted as well - and I’m definitely stressing out about decisions this week! I don’t think I’ll be accepting a spot because I don’t think it’s worth it. I haven’t visited, it’s far away, and I don’t know what kind of aid I would get.

The Road… You’ve said this before, but where do you get that the wait list is 0%? Please link if you have it, because the common data set says that is incorrect. People do get admitted off of the waitlist and they usually end up with 40-some students enrolling off the wait list.

Right, my S was one. Read some of my other posts for formulating a plan to be one of the lucky few-lucky, because you are ALL qualified.

The Road was saying that one year they accepted 0%, which is correct. In 2007, 1,231 applicants were waitlisted, 603 accepted a place on the waitlist, and 0 were admitted (the yield was greater than expected that year and the class overenrolled).

I saw that one year when I averaged wait lists over the past five years by going through the old common data info. Still, I wouldn’t have leapt to the zero of three years ago, vs the five year average of 37. Granted, even taking out that one year of zero and making the average about 45 a year, there isn’t a huge percentage of students getting in once deciding to take a spot on the wait list, but the bottom line is, kids do get in off the wait list.

–> 0% acceptance rate from wait list for Middlebury
I was also wait-listed, which is actually better than what I expected- a rejection. I am an international who does not have that great stats for Middlebury and requires lots of finaid so I guess no chance for me. I am just quite crossed because I 've got 3 wait list so far.

We’re in the same situation, n.linhchi.
Good luck!

Sorry Modadunn if I came off as too…pessimistic but the article link that n.linhchi put up (I gave that to some one else who had messaged me about the 0% earlier) was the one that I had read and was referring to.

It didn’t help that I received 3 unfortunate decisions all at once from my top 3 choices…
WL at middlebury…expected, but still sad
WL at Georgetown…also expected
…and REJECTED at Wellesley. This completely killed me. My first first choice.

TheRoad… I saw that too… and you were right in that they did accept 0% three years ago, but on average it’s more like 40… give or take a year. Not a reason to be hugely OPTIMISTIC, but not completely fatalistic either. It will all depend on what the yield ends up being, which you won’t really know.

I think Middlebury realized that with the economy as it is and with the difficulty with which they will be providing financial aid, they “theorized” their yield rate to be rather low compared to others so I have a feeling they accepted more than they did or I may be completely wrong which means that it’s better for the waitlistees who did not apply for financial aid.

Waitlisted by 4, Rejected by 3. I have Yale left. How fun…
seriously, what the heck am i to do…

Got rejected by 2. Waitlsited by Middlebury. Looks, like staying home.
