Waitlist 2017

@sportskid45 no problem  I am obsessing a little bit =/ trying to guess the outcome

@MattieR91 Haha. Me too. I have no clue if they are even going to take anyone from the waitlist this year.

@MattieR91 I remember seeing your posts for some of the other 7 sisters schools. Maybe were both meant for MHC? ( Didn’t get into Wellesley or Smith either)

I flippin hope I’m meant for MHC as I have been rejected from every other school I applied to, good job I’m fairly positive about stuff like this, or I’d be hibernating right now =P not sure if I asked already but what are you hoping to major in?

Right now either chemistry or neuroscience. I applied as undecided though.

@sportskid45 Awesome  I am thinking sociology or psychology with an education minor but also applied as undecided cause options are good :)

Is anyone sending 3rd quarter grades? All of my grades went up and some by a lot so I don’t know if I should send them or not.

send them, it can’t hurt :)

Guys, odd question. But with the waitlist, is it a case that the college has say 500 spaces in a class and will send out 500 acceptances. So the number of students declining a space is automatically the number of spaces they need to fill from the waitlist. Or is it more complicated than that? Sooo confused and a little panicky

@MattieR91 Most schools will accept more than they have spots for knowing that some will decline the offer.

sportskid45 is right. Over the years, schools get a good sense of the percentage of kids who will accept their offer of admission. Harvard may reasonably predict that 80 to 90% of students offered admission will accept while Mount Holyoke may predict that 30 to 40% will. Sometimes they underestimate how many will accept – and then you get students tripled up in dorm rooms. Other times, they overestimate and more spots open up on the waitlist. Last year Mount Holyoke accepted 1,631 students and only 506 of them enrolled. Even so, they only offered 30 spots from the waiting list.

Thanks sportskid45 and kelbee, I figured it was probably a little more complicated than I first thought, well
we can hope I guess :)

It’s actually more complicated
Mt H is committed to meeting the financial need (as MtH calculates need) of each applicant. So sometimes it comes down to how much aid a particular applicant needs and how that particular applicant will impact the class profile. I hope a spot opens for you.

Does anyone know if MHC is taking anyone from their waitlist this year?

we don’t know yet, that’s what Darcy said in her latest email (a response to a question I had) not sure when they’ll know

Has anyone heard anything/had news via email about waitlist status/whether they’re going to the list?

Nobody’s heard back apparently.
I hope they are intending to pull from wait list this year or I’ll go crazy in college in Lithuania.

Yeh, I hope so too
any ideas on chances of getting accepted next year if you reapply and were waitlisted this time round?

@MattieR91

I think chances will be a lot higher
I mean, If I don’t get accepted I’ll go to LCC International University and then re apply
It shows that you really wanna get in and you’re very motivated

 • if your college grades are high

:(
Please MoHo accept me

Please love me MoHo, you already feel like my MoHome, less than a week til May 1st
we can only hope they have lots of space and money left over. Would you be needing aid @Bluecholeric?
