Waitlist 2017

I am…eastern time I guess? It’s currently 9:16 and I’m in precalc :)

GMT +4
Tbilisi time

woo math! Don’t you just love it, I don’t, it’s my worst subject haha

Me too
I’m planning to major in Neuroscience and I’ll obviously have to take calculus and it’s killing me.
I’m working on it though, taking computational neuroscience course at coursera but it’s so damn hard.

What are you guys planning to major in?

sociology/psychology with teacher licensure, I want to teach in elementary school :slight_smile: but the idea of coming up with my own program is kind of appealing atm too because there’s so much I want to study haha

That’s really impressive. I’d love to teach too. If I get my phD I may even become a professor or something.
I was thinking about minoring or even double majoring and taking education with counselor licensure (if there is such thing)
cause counseling is something I really enjoy and I helped many guys out at my school.
It’d be nice if I could use the both sides of my brain at once ^_^

Wow you guys are so awesome and motivated!! Yeah I hate hate hate math. With a passion.

I plan to major in international relations and minor in French…and do something with journalism

Haha thanks :slight_smile: motivation is easy when you really want something :slight_smile: also I’m a little older than you guys, I turn 22 next Monday. So, if I reapply next year it’s my last shot =/

I’m not even 18 yet. Makes me feel like a toddler :slight_smile:
@MattieR91
Don’t worry! You’ll get in this year or the next one.

@Cassijordan16
I was thinking about taking French. Not majoring or minoring but just taking French language and spending my junior year in France. I got accepted to American University of Paris (i withdrew the offer already) but this Paris thing seems really appealing and I know many Holyoke students who spent a semester or year abroad in France

I’m not 18 yet either! Still 17!! I feel like such a youngn. @bluecholeric that’s amazing that you got into the American university of Paris!! I was going to apply but decided that I probably wouldn’t go even if I was accepted. I went to France last year and it was absolutely incredible. I lovelovelove France and cannot wait to go back!!!

Ahhh I can’t believe tomorrow is the day we need to put out money down. It’s insane

Guys I just talked to Darcy on the phone and she said they’re still in the process of making decisions but they’re not even positive that they’ll be taking anyone off the waitlist. They’re going to wait to see how many people stay on the waitlist after may 1st, due to financial reasons and interest in the school. You guys should try giving her a call and see why she says because I know she said a lot more but I don’t remember exactly

I can’t call :confused: international is super expensive, should I email?

:( No chance for me apparently. Given the fact that I need the aid. Damn
It’s weird cause so many people around me got in a decided to go somewhere else and already transfered their deposits to Smith, Bates and Grinnell for instance. So many people withdrew and they still won’t take anyone off?

Should I email? and tell Darcy that I intend to stay?

Probably I should. Maybe tomorrow noon EDT.

I can’t call either. International is like $2 a minute. Well I would but I’m sure emailing her would work.

Email her tomorrow. You guys should wait just in case you hear something tomorrow which is possible. You don’t want to seem too eager.

What country are you guys from?

I’m from England. I don’t think we need to email saying we want to stay on the waitlist. I guess just if we don’t. Are you guys gonna stay on the waitlist or accept somewhere else?

You’re from ENGLAND! That is so cool I love British people hahaha :slight_smile:

I’m going to put my money on Hampshire tomorrow, and then still email mhc to tell them I want to stay on the list

Haha I love American people! I also have a total posh (according to my friends) British accent, it makes my US friends laugh :P

Ahhh now I’m going to read all of your answers with a British accent! Do British people think Americans have accents? That’s probably a dumb question

Haha yeh, but when we try to ‘do’ a US accent it tends to be either valley girl or southern haha I’m getting better at hearing various ‘regional’ accents now, but still find it hard. But I guess that works when you hear British accents too

Yeah I’ve noticed that whenever people try to imitate American accents it’s either someone from Texas, or California! British accents are fun to do. But I feel like there are a lot of different kinds, not just one general “British accent”
