Hi I was waitlisted as a student of the class of 2021 and am now studying at another university. I have sent a letter to my regional admissions officer seeking interest in UChicago. Is it possible I get off the waitlist? Is the waitlist weighted? If I get off the waitlist can I transfer credits ?
Unfortunately you can no longer get off the waitlist for the class of 2021. You can however try to apply as a transfer. I’m not sure if the application deadline for transfers has passed. If so you can always try and apply next year as a transfer I think.
Once the school starts in the fall, the waitlist automatically disappears and everyone are still on the waitlist drops from the list. Since you have already started your class in another school, you are no longer qualified to apply as freshmen, you need to apply as a transfer. This applies to all schools.
UChicago has a very low attrition rate, so it is extremely difficult to apply as a transfer. Success rate is hovering at around 2-3% as I understand.
