I called in today to "appeal" my decision. I thought my interview was decent, but I don't know if the admissions officer I called was just really nice or sincerely considered getting me off the wait list. He was really positive and said that not a lot of people had actually called and kept thanking me for calling. I was just wondering if anyone else had a similar experience or the person I called was just in a really good mood.

My daughter called in on Wednesday (day 2 of the call in dates). She had a discussion with the admissions officer and she said he was nice. I did not get the impression that he was overly positive, and did not say anything about not a lot of people calling in. So, that is a good sign. I’m not sure if he thanked her for calling; she did not mention that. She spoke to an officer named Alex. Did you talk to the same person? Did your person say when they would be making their decision of who they would take from the wait list? My daughter said that the officer she spoke to said “soon” -not very helpful. Please post when hear either way, and I will do the same. Good luck!

Maybe you were on the fence of acceptances? It’s possible that you had good stats, but didn’t past the “holistic” test and they were just waiting for you to show some interest (ie, calling them about waitlist)! Who knows, really. Though it sounds good, right?

I called too, the person on the other wasnt overly enthusiastic, but it seemed like he was just filling out the form for the admissions committee to review. Do any of you know how likley do the students that call get in off the wl? and also, has anyone heard back or heard of any updates on the wl?

My daughters’ college counsellor called and was advised that 25-30 students were accepted from the wait list last week - mostly males. We are still waiting to hear something. The college counselor told us that the admissions person said that “they are in a holding pattern” to determine how many more students they can take from the list. Odds do not seem to be too good at this point. Anyone else hear anything?

I called a few days ago and they said that they have not yet finished looking at the waitlist and that they have not yet finished collecting and finalizing all the deopsits, so I don’t know how accurate the 25 students thing is, but I have no proof. Hisotricaly they accept about 100 students and they said they may be accepting students up till late August depending on how many students accept their wait list offer. But I am also eagerly waiting, I think they will notify candidates this friday because that is what they did last year.

Has anyone heard any additional information about the wait list? That’s incredible to think that they would be accepting students off of the wait list as late as late August. I think we will give it another couple of weeks and call it done. But, would like to hear any input from other wait listed students.

According to the Washington Post, only about 25 students will be offered admission

Just an update, I think that malexah08 comment is correct. We were advised by our college counselor (who spoke with admissions) that GW is only taking about 25 students, and are not accepting anymore at this time.
