Coincidentally, Caltech's Financial Aid was better for me than any other school =)
Congrats! And, as you said, keep on hoping!

Congrats!

Also, have most WL acceptances been given out already, or is it just starting to get used?

Sweet! Major congrats, foo. Hey, now you won't spend the rest of your life checking the Caltech Class of 2012 Facebook Gr- oh wait...

foo182!!! you got in...wow..congrats...OMG i'm getting so anxious now...when did you get it?? when shall i expet mine?? Will it be a rejection since I didn't get mine yet?? Have others recieved it?? Do rejection letters also come in the same time!!! Pls post if you recieved something!!!

Hey foo, I thought were an international student?? You got in even after asking for FA?? Cool stuffs, congrats again!!

Thanks everyone!!!! :))

Hriundeli, well I'm hoping they'll be good to me too :)) It would be shame to get this far, and then lose it because of the FA ;)

Heerad, I really don't have a clue, they didn't say anything, they just asked me if I'm interested, I said yes, and they said that I'm admitted :D

Hahahah zoogies, I think I have checked that group so much these days, that I really don't want to do it for another day in my life.. But feck, I'll guess I'll have too.. :PPP

Brahmin, I got an email yesterday round 2pm, CA time.. The fact that you haven't received anything yet doesn't mean you're rejected, they do this things in couple of rounds.. Admit couple of people today, couple of people tomorrow etc.. Then they wait and see if those admitted from waitlist will enroll, if they don't enroll, they call next group... MAybe you should send them a polite email, asking what's happening, just to show you're interested and maybe they'll tell you more ;)
And yep, I am an intl student, and we shall see how fortunate/unfortunate I was with FA ;)

Hmmmm. I don't know if I shoudl contact them again. Since being waitlisted I've called them once and e-mailed them three times, so e-mailing evne once more just to check to see what's happening might be a little too much. Maybe I'll wait for the weekend to be over and see if anyone else gets admitted....

Argh im getting so nervous...

Good luck to eveyrone else and congratulatiosn foo!

The New York Times > Log In

This article made me happy. I guess elite schools can be expected to go to their waitlists for at least one more round because of the "first round" of the waitlist shifting acceptees around. Perhaps there is still some hope? Crosses fingers :)

Once again, good luck to all!

So are they accepting any more? I have a friend who is anxiously waiting. There can't be only one person here who got off the WL.

Ya this is weird, i thought after the first letter, the rest should come out like dominoes, haha...and Caltech will have to get over with their 'first round' to find out who are all rejecting the offer.
Hmm...let's just keep waiting
Seems like foo just missed a place during regular decisions and got in once spots opened up...good luck to everyone else...
I hope others will post if they hear anythig.

"There can't be only one person here who got off the WL."

mwahahahahah! :P nope, i'm sure they've got more people off the list, but they probably aren't on forum, or dunno.. or maybe they've just got a little under projected yield this year, because of that harvard thingie.. god, can't believe that one college can screw up admissions so much heheh

and no worries, you can always hope i'll get bad FA and decline their offer... :P

Has anyone else gotten a call from the admissions office yet (or at least heard of someone else who has)?

According to the new Tech out today, we have 236 people who have already accepted spots and we don't want any more. We're probably just going to replace those of the 236 who go to another school after getting off another waitlist, which they don't expect to be more than 10. If Stanford and MIT take a lot of people off their waitlists, it might be more. We don't have as much overlap with Harvard but it looks like they are taking a lot of people off of their waitlist.

Waitlist acceptances will probably be very gradual this year, so just be patient. Frankly, the odds are not very good for any of you, so don't get your hopes up too much. Best of luck.

Stanford seems to be full, and MIT reports taking approximately 35 off of the waitlist.

^ aside from foo, there's at least one other who's gotten in off the waitlist.

I know... ill call ourselves really really unlucky if it's only foo who got in...lol
Last year, it was about 30...

If Caltech waits for other university's waiting list, how long will Caltech take?? later than june 15th??

I couldn't find that info in Caltech today..Can you give the link Antiquark??

@*Brahmin
You'll be able to find the link here when the new copy of the Tech is online.

The California Tech

Still waiting here...I don't expect to get in, since they are only admitting like 10 people and I don't think that I really stick out from the waitlist...oh well. Best of luck to everyone! And congratulation foo!

to add to the stats (which seem pretty dismal right now, but keep hope up!!) i received a phone call from the office of admissions about a week ago telling me i got in...but there wasn't any email so don't be discouraged if you don't get an email, its all done by paper anyway

wow...congrats cookiemon all the best in Caltech...are you a US citizen?? Can you brief me in what all additional material you sent? When did you get the call?
So you've decided to go?? Do they ask you on the spot? hehe

Can someone please give the source of these stats...i can't find them anywhere....i couldn't get in the california tech link given..
