hi im a new transfer student majoring in electrical engineering. i'm on the wait list #24 now for physics 2B in a class with a capacity of 363 seats. is there a chance for me to get into that class?

im now enrolled in 16 units and cannot add any classes again. im planning to add ece15 classes at the first day of school, but its now on number 10 wait list. ive heard from my friends, chem engineering major, that if we are on the waitlist for major classes, we are guaranteed to get into the class. is that true?

They say roughly 10% of a class drops within the first week or so so it’s certainly possible that you can get in. As far as being guaranteed to get into a major class, I don’t know how the engineering majors work but other majors don’t work like that.

It’s always possible for you to get into a class off the waitlist. Since that’s a large class, it’s more likely, but you never know.

No, you’re not guaranteed to get into a class off the waitlist, even if it is a major class. The waitlist is automated and takes people off in the order of the waitlist as seats open up. You MAY be able to work with the department to figure out an alternative if you can’t get into a class that you need to graduate (and generally only as a fourth or fifth year), but that’s the exception, not the rule.
