was that “letter” a physical letter, or was it an email? can anyone share a bit of what it said?

BillyBamf – it was an e-mail, saying the expected about how difficult it is to make choices among so many talented applicants, etc. Since you apparently haven’t received such an e-mail, it seems you’re still in the running – good luck!

imissfish – maybe our sons will meet at Tufts! We’re from San Diego, so we probably won’t get to visit him there very often, but you never know – we might even meet at a Parents’ Weekend sometime! Congratulations to your son, and to you for getting him to this point!

supportivemom1–And congratulations to your son, too! I do hope our sons get a chance to meet. DS is studying history/econ/IR–something along those lines. We’re outside Boston–best of luck with the move and transition.

I got the email today. Ah well.

I got an email today saying that I would remain on a much reduced wait-list until mid-June. They said that it seems unlikely that they will make any additional offers, but I still have my fingers crossed.

Good for you, BrightEyes! Good luck!

Thank you! I know there isn’t much of a chance, but I’m trying to stay optimistic
oh and Congrats to your son on getting in to Tufts!

I got a similar email.

“we want you to remain on a much reduced list until mid-June. Wesleyan’s Class of 2015 is fully enrolled now and it seems unlikely we will be in a position to make additional offers but will know more in a about a month.”

NYU’15

Just to give those still waiting a little something of an update. I got in regular decision (and decided to enroll) and I am part of the Wesleyan Admitted students group on facebook (which basically has become the Class of 2015 page) and I just wanted to let you guys know that I have already seen quite a few people accept spots from other schools waitlists (probably 10 or so, and these are just people who decided to publicize it on the group; and I have followed at least 2 cases where the person was a friend and I knew they got off the waitlist and then they accepted those spots and just flat out left the group without saying goodbye or leaving a trace of their existance). Basically I am just trying to say that don’t give up yet or convince yourself you will be rejected off the waitlist, giving Wesleyan a bad rep in your mind so that if you were to be accepted, you might second guess attending… in my opinion, I think the waitlist will be used a little this year, because other students already enrolled are sure to get off of more waitlists and decide to enroll there, opening up even more spots for you. Now I am not sure if we were already far above capacity, but I am hoping that those of you out there still dying to get in, do, because Wesleyan is truly an incredible place. Good luck to all!

The above. I’ll write to Wesleyan as soon as I get my pack from Carleton and enroll. The thing about not publicly saying goodbye is, I didn’t think it would be appropriate because I don’t know most of the people there. FWIW, those I know, I did tell them.

Congratulations, Impero. Ever since you posted on the Accepted Students thead, I’ve known you’ve been waiting to hear from Carleton, so I’m glad things worked out. :)

Know a kid who heard yesterday, he is in off of wait list.

thanks, johnwesley!

My letter is in today- I know how frustrating wait list can be (I checked my e-mail once every 2 hours. it was crazy). Don’t lose hope!

So, nepop, you know someone that was accepted off Wesleyan’s wait list? Was it through the phone, mail or email?

Heard from two separate reliable sources who chatted with Wes admissions folks over reunion/commencement weekend - Wes is indeed currently “oversubscribed,” received about 100 more acceptances than expected, they are talking about how to turn double rooms into triples and whether transfer students would be willing/able to start later if they don’t see significant fall-off between initial deposits and when next payment is due. In other words, ~ 100 people would have to get into another school’s waitlist and drop Wes, or otherwise change their minds. Net: extremely unlikely they will go to waitlist this year at all, unless unique circumstance/some special exception being made (nepop’s friend?)

OK, so we all are sitting here waiting for closure on the Wesleyan waitlist. Any idea when this might happen? Also, does anyone know of one or more of these 100 or so oversubscribed students who might be doubling or tripling up in dorm rooms - can this be verified? Can any transfer students confirm they have been asked to wait longer for Wesleyan? Not that I doubt funkychicken, I just want to hear something new.
