Waitlist success stories

I would probably not. I've considered that same thing, but it seems a little slimy. No offense. I would just avoid that.

Looks like Hamilton is making some calls. Two kids posted the same story regarding admissions officer calling them, asking them how interested, then offering the spot. Still second hand but seems realistic

Most schools would offer waitlisted students exact same package as regular students. Last year my daughter got her fat envelope a few days after she verbally accepted the offer. She was also offered housing as soon as deposit was sent. Most schools guarantee housing for freshmen. Her school did not do course selection until the orientation week, so she really didn't miss out on anything. I got involved with her housing because she was late in the process.

For many of you that are getting off the waitlist, do not for one moment feel you are the second best. Many of you were not accepted because of your profile, not your credential. My daughter couldn't be happier at her waitlisted school - she is doing very well academically and socially. She couldn't imagine being anywhere else.

Oh, thank you, oldfort. I really appreciate your reply. My daughter got accepted in three top tier schools, got wait listed in four. The deposit has been sent to one school, and the proper "thank you but I'm not attending" letters sent out to the ones she's not attending. Still she's got her heart set on a school that wait listed her.

My husband and I are new to CC, as can be seen from my join date. But we generally like the discussions, and we're learning so much. We'll still be here next year, for our son.

Thanks again.

thnks, leaderman, i think you're probably right.

so does anyone know who i should call? my local admissions officer for Northwestern is going out of town. I need someone to call and bug. Lol.

any internationals taken off Duke's waitlist yet?

.... very agonizing to wait n wait...

and do colleges take ppl off waitlists on weekends as well?

thanks...

Admitted:
It looks like you, me, everyone else, and their dog is waiting for the Duke waitlist. Nothing's gonna happen til monday.

does anyone know about amherst and penn?

I'm still holding out for Barnard and Emory. Gah! The waiting is killing me.

Dartmouth, anyone anyone? :s

Oh... I am so anxious about Columbia..Will they notify you now or wait till May 15th.. ****. this is like the worst torture ever. Grhhh...

@Sakura: They've started notifying people for SEAS.

i need to hear something about the Wash U waitlist....sooner the better....though i think TAdd is right - nothing much till monday probably

Thanks RedStorm, Yeah, I applied for SEAS. Do you know what the chances are like.? They notify you by emails or phone calls? So basically what they say about the earliest response will be May 15th is a BS.. Fingers crossed for Columbia¬¬¬

HOLY mothers... someone just wrote that Harvard took someone off their waitlist on May 1st? The secretary person answering the phone told me we'll hear back mid-May to June.

Is it bad news if the regional rep never answered any of my emails/stuff. Does that mean he's not interested at all?

@Sakura: The people on the Columbia forum have gotten both calls and emails.

Guys, I realize that we're all really, really anxious to get off our respective waitlists, but we have to be realistic. This is pretty much April 1 all over again, except, to be quite blunt, our chances are even lower this time around. We've gotta be happy with what we have at this point, and if things don't turn out the way we hope, just accept it and move on. For most of us, our current choices are certainly places where we can all be quite happy at, or else why would you have applied there?

I honestly think that the best approach, if you've already done all you can to show "demonstrated interest" by sending in supplementary stuff, is to sit back and just forget about it all. This way, you won't stress incessantly over the next 3 weeks waiting for that call that may never come. Conversely, the feeling you'll receive if you DO get the call will be coupled with surprise, making it all the sweeter.

Again, best of luck to all of us.

I absolutely agree with TADD...The more I fill out information on roommate and housing for Emory...the less I am interested in WashU.... dunno..

Would be great to get any information on Harvard. Does anyone have any idea as to the size of the wait list; how many have accepted to stay on the wait list and when we will hear something. Also will we be notified once the colleges have finished the process - so at least the waiting will be over. Many many thanks !
