Waitlist success stories

so...where did you commit to on May 1 that you will say no to now when you say yes to Cornell?

i think most if not all schools will notify students within the next two weeks.

chattykathy, I was taken off of the UVA wait-list (priority resident) on May 10. Good luck to you for the same!

Hey everyone I am on the georgetown Waitlist and I have ehard they are mailing all their letters Monday(tommorow)....Does anyone know if ALL colleges call if you get off the WL first...I ahvent gotten a calla dn im really doubting my chances...then again Gtown is usaully a stickler for communicating via mail only.

no i dont think ALL colleges call. a girl on here said that she got an email from Bryn Mawr notifying her of her acceptance off the waitlist.

Those are some nice stories.

naw u of m emailed

Yup, I only got an e-mail from Duke, too.

Peterwaho...so there is hope!!! except I am not a VA res... I assume you accepted??? Hope to see you there in the fall!!!

I'm waitlisted at Yale and Columbia for transfer...what to do?!

Any of you U VAers heard if W&M will go to wait list?

so word on the street is that May 15th is a pretty common notification date for waitlists...is that true? should we expect to hear something tomorrow?

yes, have seen several posts on individual college forums saying this. Some expect emails, others snail (shocking!!)

i got in off the notre dame waitlist today!!!
i received a phone call from my local admissions rep, and hyperventilated to him for a good 5 minutes haha

Wow, Page. The Big ND!! How exciting! Go celebrate!!!

I posted this question on another thread and I will pose it here: when dealing with a WL lobby campaign, who particularly did you all lobby? Did you lobby the regional rep/counselor or the dean of admissions? thanks!

Is anyone aware of whats up with georgetown's WL...I havent gotten any word yet and they supposedly sent decision letters out today....Is it inevitably a rejction if you dont egt a call/email, or could this just be adhering to the mail communication only policy georgetown usually has??? Help!!!

Here are some success stories. My daughter got off the Cornell waitlist a week ago, where she has decided to go. Today she just received an email from Duke to tell her she is off the waitlist. She said it's nice to be appreciated, but Cornell it is.

A friend's daughter, who is a day older than my daughter, was not thrilled of the school she was going to. She got off Northwestern, Duke and Cornell's waitlist last week. She is having a very high class problem now.

Both girls have very similar profile and were very disappointed in March. But now they both have good reason to celebrate.

We were all very proactive in lobbying with the admission office. In our case, our college counselor played a very important role. She talked to the admission office/regional rep regularly.

wow, oldfort, that is fantastic! getting off 2 or 3 waitlists must be rare, so congratulations to your kids!

I got off the waitlist at Wash U :D
