Waitlist success stories

LOL.... chacha, is my son!!( actually BOTH sons use the same screen name-leads to some very schizo postings!!) we use the same computer, he was on earlier and didn't sign off, he will be mad, his "cover" has been blown!! ;)

anju44 : congrats to you for getting into caltech

( i am from Nepal )

thanks : )

i have been waitlisted at Bates & Trinity.

i have mailed bates several fully dedicated letters...made a few calls..and still nothing.

trinity..basically the same as bates, except one less letter

does anyone have any info on either waitlists?

a boy from my school got into bates off the waitlist recently.

I got in to Washington and Lee off the wait-list.

did you do anything to get off the wait list?

Got in off of Wharton's :-)

For the waitlist, I got the email address of my regional admissions officer, sent an email to them expressing my interest and sent a nicely written letter (a page) about why I wanted to go to their school. I thought it worked well; just found out I got into Brown from the waitlist, woot.

Looks like the wait lists acceptances have slowed downed some. I do know a girl that got off John Hopkins yesterday. There is still hope for some I think.

my friend got off the Yale's WL... need blind, that's ...

UNC yeah. So long Wake Forest

051407, I'm an international too (Singapore). Was accepted to Pomona College off the waitlist in May 8. Deposit sent, place confirmed and the like.

Best of luck for Penn and Trinity! Call them, ask to speak to the admissions head, send in essays, new developments (jobs or internships), testimonials - make sure they know u're really interested in their schools without coming across as a pest =)

congratulations DT !
am also off the waitlist at trinity college and have already booked a place
( am from Nepal )

I did exactly the same thing and got rejected.

Thanks 051407! And congrats to you too!!! Awesome :)

That's tough, Sad_Waitlistee. Are you on waitlist for more than one school?

Waitlist--the worst type of torture one has to cope with.
I still haven't heard from my first choice.

I agree... it's so hard to deal with. I still have not heard from Oberlin, and it's killing me.

I'm curious about something... when schools say they wait until late June to round out their waitlist... does that mean they fill up all the available spots, give waitlistees some time to decide, and then continue this until late June? Or do they fill up only some of the spots until they reach late June when they try to fill all the spots left?

I guess this thread is gonna be real active again this year in a couple of weeks. Ah well at least bumpin this thread will let waitlisted people such as myself know when to expet the replies. Btw, if anyone of you who posted on this thread are still around and didnt recieve ur replies in May, did anyone of you actually get off the waitlist of your respective college June ?

thanks for bumping this som1
