wonder if they ever send on weekends… just hopeful thinking! Ha!
I don’t know if this helps, but watching the move in day videos on YouTube is great Seeing everyone introduce themselves and say why they chose W&L is very refreshing. Check the videos out!
Has anyone heard back from W&L?
@gearsstudio , nothing yet on my part. If anything does come, Friday would most likely be the day. Have you commited to any colleges yet?
I’ve enrolled in the University of Alabama, but I’ll back out and join W&L if I get in.
I was accepted to FSU but had to withdraw when they wouldn’t change my term to Fall. :[ I’ve applied to some open admission colleges around but I’m crossing every limb to get a positive answer from W&L. It seems like its just you, me and swimgirl on this thread huh?
As I have mentioned before don’t lose hope! My son, now a Freshman at W&L, was accepted in May after the deadline for other colleges. We ended up putting down three deposits at other schools which he turned down after he was accepted at W&L. He made the right choice and has been very happy at W&L. Good luck!
@AGoodFloridian @gearsstudio Either of you know if W&L has accepted anyone from the wait-list yet?
I don’t know. They had accepted some students by this time last year, so I wouldn’t be surprised if some students have been taken off the wait list by now.
@AGoodFloridian @gearsstudio Even though they had 270 fewer applications in 2016 than 2015 they have accepted about 70 more students so far. They are trying to avoid using the Wait List as much as they did last year with 193 as AGoodFloridian has said. I am certain they will take some, almost all schools do, but the number will be lower. If it is large again, then there are larger problems to worry about at Washington and Lee.
@UnivPro @AGoodFloridian @gearsstudio not only have they accepted 70 more, but they have done a better job at reaching out to prospective students, which has already improved their yield. Because of this, W&L has not taken any students from the waitlist yet and will not do so before May 1st. It is also a given that they will take less students from the waitlist than last year, which was quite atypical.
@collegeboy1997 How do you know about that?
@gearsstudio @collegeboy1997 probably works in the admissions office, used to work there and keeps up with friends in in that office, or works there currently in some form. The average number of Wait List admits is 87 per year at W&L for the past 10 years (from Common Data Set information). That is a more reasonable number, +/-, to expect this year. The old admissions office was complacent. Under new leadership they may indeed be getting a better yield, still next week is likely for their first move to it, more common date there.
I got accepted off the wait list! Good luck to everyone else
When did you get accepted?
@anonymous4424 Congrats pal! I called the other day and they said they haven’t released any decisions yet and have no estimate of when that’d be but I guess some got out earlier, huh? Hm…
@AGoodFloridian @bdcollegehopeful @gearsstudio W&L has been taking people off the Wait List for about 10 days contrary to the single poster’s comments. I know of an alumni legacy daughter who was taken from the Wait List last Saturday and she was given 24 hours to respond. She’s going to another school btw. So, if you manage to get off the list the response time is short. I would not bother them too much though. That can backfire.
@UnivPro I don’t think that they have begun to take people off of the waitlist. They said they would send me an email to notify me as to whether or not they would be utilizing the waitlist and I have yet to receive said email, leading me to believe they haven’t begun the process.
I did get an e-mail from W&L on Monday. Was super excited about it, only to find out that it was sent by the wrestling coach of W&L to inform me that W&L was ranked #1 in the 2016 Kiplinger Report for Best College Value. :3
I think they’ve probably started taking students off the waitlist since they did by this time last year. Someone should give them a phone call and inquire about when we can expect to hear back.
