Haven’t heard much from my end. While I still remain hopeful after all I’ve done so far, I’ve come to terms with the possibility of not hearing anything at all. At this point I see an acceptance like a lottery. I won’t quit my job just because I think I have a decent chance of winning, but if I do win- my bags will be packed on the same day.
@mat324 If you read 2 posts before mine you saw that @annoymous4424 was accepted on 4/28. They are and have been taking students off the Wait List. And I noted that a friend had their student accepted last Saturday, the 30th. They are not great about keeping students informed about what is going on. That is on purpose. They want to keep people on the line so they don’t say much. You will either receive an email that says you’ve been accepted or that they are taking no more students. They will try to be finished with the Wait List as soon as they can. Last year it went well into the summer. This year I would guess it will be finished this month.
Shoot, I was so caught up with joy during the phone call that I wasn’t really listening to how I can confirm that I want to go to Washington and Lee. Do I just call the number back?
@swimgirl1 probably shouldn’t end sentences with an ellipses in the future, kinda implies a sense of disbelief (in this case a disbelief at the fact that I didn’t know how I would be notified)
Who the hell cares- @mat324 and @swimgirl1 . Shouldn’t you two be congratulating each other after being the very few who were admitted off a waitlist? More hugs people, congrats!
I agree 100% @AGoodFloridian! I was just trying to help. Didn’t realize my grammar would be taken the wrong way. Just so you know I have been praying that you get in. You seem like a good guy. Just so you know. I declined my offer. Hoping you get the spot!
@swimgirl1 <3!! I’m sending virtual hugs and kisses your way! Hahaha, thank you very much for your kind words I can only imagine how awesome you’ll be at the college you’ve chosen! You’re going to have a fantastic four years. We all are, actually. Regardless of where we end up.
@AGoodFloridian I am going to wake forest. Just wanted a bigger school. Luv W&L. Make sure you call rep and just say that it’s your number one and that you will put down the deposit ASAP. Wishing u my spot!!!
I must congratulate all of you for wanting to attend a superb school.
I went to the other school in Lexington and remember vividly walking past all the frat parties at W&L on my way to attending mass at a church in town. Life seemed so good for the W&L students. They partied hard but at the same time, they were as smart as they come.
I might call my admission counsellor come the beginning of next week, but I’m a bit hesitant- I’ve already had a lot of contact with the university thus far. They already know I’m desperate, but I can’t make it tooooooooo obvious.
For now I’ll sit on my porch in the cold rain, gray skies echoing melancholy, staring into the distance. Somewhere, “The Sound of Silence” is playing on the radio.
@UnivPro@collegeboy1997 Genuinely curious, do you have any clue why some are admitted before or after others? According to their webpage, their waitlist isn’t “ranked”, so could it be because of other reasons?
I suppose it’s anyone’s guess- for all we know it could be by last name or just completely random.
(@gearsstudio . Haven’t heard from you in a while pal- did you get any news?)
@AGoodFloridian@gearstudio. Acceptances off the Wait List depend on a variety of things in no particular order. One is how much financial aid they have left or not. Two is what the enrolling statistics of those already enrolled are like. Three would be what they need ethnically or athletically. Four would be geography. Five would be where you fit against he preceding. It is a mixed bag of attributes. 700+ take places on the list. They average 90+ from it. So you have about a 12% chance of getting in from WL. You have shown interest I would not press it too hard. They recoil.
Hi guys. I’ve been worrying for weeks now. It is nice to know I am not alone in this. Anyhoo I’ve sent W&L my senior year update and also asked the potential decision date but I haven’t heard anything back. The same with Kenyon and Grinnell. Don’t they even respond now? Good luck to all of you and congrats to those already set for college. I hope the waiting ends soon!!!
