Waitlist

any fellow waitlisters out there? I'm really hoping to hear some good news soon since the May 1st deadline passed! Davidson is my first choice and I'm kind of going crazy fantasizing how I will react if I get THE call =/ I've also been obsessively stalking CC threads and it's really starting to take time away from studying for IBs and APs!

anyways, the purpose of this thread is to post any new intel about the status of the waitlist and share stats/decisions if any of us receive the fateful call :)

Not to throw water on it/you, but just remember – Davidson has historically selected very few from its WL. In the interim, do the most with your Plan B.

I was waitlisted also! havent heard anything. I know Davidson is expecting to increase the freshman class size but I think to do this they accepted more students. I dont think it will have a big impact on the waitlist. Hoping that since students applied to like 10 schools this year, there will be less percent yield. Who knows, we should hear back in the next couple of weeks. Good luck!!

D got selected from the WL today. Best of luck to the rest of you.

I know an alum who got off the waitlist by being OBNOXIOUS and sending multiple letters and calling the dean of admissions. It was a year they selected 12 out of about 500. Good luck!

Dad55. How were you notified?

T/c Thursday am

Dad55, did they mention how many students would most likely be accepted off the waitlist? Or when most people would probably hear back?

I just received an email from David Kraus saying that they are planning to make “a few” offers to waitlisted students within the next week to ten days and my counselor found out that they received more deposits than they were expecting so idk how likely an acceptance is anymore :(

I also received the same email from David Krause a few days ago. This is my dream school, I hope I am accepted!

I was accepted off of the wait list on May 5th  it was super awkward because they called in the middle of my prom, but I’m not complaining! #ClassOf2015
btw does anyone know if there is an OFFICIAL class of 2015 Facebook page? I want to see some of my future class Mates

About what time did they call you?

around 8:00

Hey there, I know this is an older thread, but I was waitlisted for Davidson’s Class of 2016. Davidson is also my first choice school. Does anyone have any recommendations that might help my chances? Thank you!

My D was waitlisted too (***third ***waitlist) - and REALLY surprised since she’s a double Davidson legacy and has excellent credentials. She’s going to talk to her college counselor to see what she advises. I’ll share that.

My D waitlisted. She has a 3-way tie for favorite. I’ve offered her the option to send a deposit to one and wait to see if Davidson happens. All her acceptances are asking for money by May 1, some are very expensive deposits.

Or she can drop Davidson and I will pay to take her to her other top 2, which were yes, to take a visit to help decide.

Love Davidson but waiting is difficult for you kids as you are ready to start planning and getting excited. Tough decision and wish ya’ll the best in deciding what to do.

Compared to other schools Davidson has little CC chatter so not seeing much on here to help with numbers in regards to accepted, denied, or waitlisted.

This is my third waitlist as well! Best of luck to her! Thank you.

waitlisted as well…

davidson only has a class size of 490. That leaves rougly 4310 apps not accepted at this time.

if i was betting man i would say probably about 100-120 were waitlisted.
Davidson probably looks to fill 5-30 seats every year depending on the year.

Goodluck!

I applied Early Decision, was deferred, and have now been waitlisted. I’m tired of being jerked around by Davidson, but I still really want to go there. I applied to 10 schools, and I have been waitlisted at 5, gotten into 4, and rejected from one. It sucks.

so wait…I’m confused. If, as munseypark says, there were 490 per class and approx. 5000 applications, does that mean Davidson’s acceptance rate was lower this year? I had thought it was around 25-30%, but even if they admit the majority of their waitlisted applicants (say, 100-120), that’s still only a little more than a 10% acceptance rate. does early decision really make that much of a difference at davidson–enough to more than double the overall acceptance rate?
