Hi! I was recently wait listed and am in the process of emailing my admissions counselor. Does anybody have any pointers, on what i should include in the letter/ how i should structure it? thank you!
Keep letter short and sweet. Express continued interest in the school. Highlight major achievements, if any, after your application was filed. Mention something you feel you can add to life on campus. ONLY IF TRUE you can add “if accepted I will attend”.
You can also have your GC make a phone call or send an email on your behalf.
thank you for the information! It helps a lot! Thank You! @happy1 @wisteria100
Unsolicited advice…After you take the steps noted above move forward, choose your favorite affordable school you have been accepted to, and assume you will end up there. I wish you well with your waitlist school, but don’t count on it working out.
@Iwannabe_Brown wrote one of the best wait lists letters about 10 years ago and has posted it, you may want to do a search.
Keep in mind that you probably won’t get off the waitlist, so after you’ve all that, put it aside and visit univsersities that did admit you.
The advice to not to get your hopes up about wl chances is valid, but at the same time wl do move. At some colleges hundreds of kids can be taken from the wl, at others it may be just a handful. The common data sets from each school csn give you a sense of how much the wl moved in past yrs. Last yr at my D’s school about 10% of kids were taken off wls, including 3 at Ivies and others at top 20 schools. But the students and gc really worked it, meaning that they followed uo regularly with the schools
@SeekingPam might you have the link?
