Waitlist

"Fitzsimmons said that the admissions office might be relying more than usual on the waitlist—which numbers in the “many hundreds”—to fill up the Class of 2012."

well. i hope "many hundreds" means less than a thousand at least! haha

Waitlisted at Harvard, in at Yale (EA), Princeton, and Brown. Funny how the harvard waitlist trumped the elation of the 3 others quite soundly :(

Remi, with all due respect, and I'm sure you know this -- you've been accepted to three of the top colleges in the world, much less just the nation. You are in a good place! Sometimes, I feel like the college admissions process ends up being a "who can get the most trophies" game -- when it should not be.

Remi, you have done very well, and I am sure you'll do well wherever you decide to go.

My son made the waitlist, got the snail mail today. My son was one of those who never received the email, stupid Comcast.

I am waitlisted as well...I am having a serious dilemma about waiting it out. It seems like there is an insane number of people on the list. In a way, I just want to accept the fact that I am going to Dartmouth and move on without the lure / false hope of Harvard hanging over my head.

APLinke,

My son wanted Dartmouth in the worst way, unfortunately they rejected him out right. He would have wanted it even over Harvard if had gotten into both.

Undoubtedly this is a stupid question, but for those of you on the waitlist who have received the snail mail, do they give you any idea on what financial aid would be if you get in by some miracle? Son got the e-mail for waitlist, but no snail mail yet.

Waitlisted as well, but where do we email supplemental information to? Is anybody gonna do that? Also, comparing Boston College and Berkeley, which would you choose? ***i am not catholic

second the question on where to email supplemental anything?

i jsut want a darn interview

waitlisted too
i talked to the receptionist at harv admissions office and she said "several hundred" ppl are on the waitlist, so chances are slim
but. if you got accepted to another great school cough mit cough and want to get in just to turn harvard down, please decline your spot on the waitlist b/c some ppl (me!) desperately want to go to harvard...

^^^ Even if they are accepted off the waitlist, and they end up turning harvard down, shouldn't that spot go to someone else anyways?

I think by several hundreds, they mean 1,999. I know wayyyy too many people waitlisted for the list to be really small.

WAIT braaap, what's the "darn interview"? is it for waitlisted people? how come I never got one!

So... like vivzee said, to those who don't seriously consider H anymore... please decline spot on waitlist! thanks!

So, does anyone have an actual number of waitlisted people this year? Also, does anyone know what the number of people taken off the waitlist was last year?

To answer your first question: A lot
To the second: very little.
