I got waitlisted and Im wondering if alot of other people did...Im actually surprised I got waitlisted because I got rejected at GW and Wake

aca0260 - Last year the school received approx. 5,500 applications (which was a record for them). This year they received around 7,700 applications! Everyone thinks Case is easy to get into and as you can see this is definately not the case. They are also trying to have a better rounded student body and are really trying to attract more liberal arts students. If you wanted to get into engineering, pre-med, physics, etc. then you would have had a higher chance of being waitlisted or nor receiving admittance. Do you want to attend Case?

aca0260, i wonder if admission is transferable.. hehehe... case only offered me 1/2 money, but most other schools offer me practically full. i wonder if i have to write a letter to case telling them im not going

xokandykyssesox - just click on prospective students (CWRU website) and select info. for admitted students, put in your ID# and password. There will be a decline admission button on the bottom of that page. You do need to let colleges know.

Yes I would like to attend...and I did apply for liberal arts, I think its underrated at case, almost a hidden gem

aca0260 - it is a gem. A couple of things I think you should do. Maybe you already have, but just in case you didn't:

1) Send your midyear report card (if good)
2) Write a letter explaining that it is your favorite school and first choice
3) Talk to your guidance counselor - maybe he/she can give you some good ideas

Good luck - I think that you have a better chance at getting off the waitlist than probably other colleges.

See:

Yeah thanks, Ive already started doing some of that...my midsemester comes out next week and im ranked in the top 5th percentile...so that should help

Ive started writing a letter as well...and i do think i have a better chance of getting of case's wait list....apparently its only 400 kids and they choose 150 whereas tulane/gw choose 50 out of 3000

first, i agree with all the things mominsearch suggested. i just wanted to add something. when you write your letter to case make sure to state not only why you want to go there, but also why you would be an asset for case. do you have any special interests? are you involved in a lot of EC's at your school? if so, make sure you highlight these and state that you plan to remain active in college. colleges are just like any other business, it is a give and take relationship. if you can prove that you can help their college, then they will accept you in return. they want a student who will give back to the college by being active. good luck!

chelsea 2005 - good advice!

thanks! same to you! :)
