So I was waitlisted and I saw about the whole target being overshot stuff... but are we ever going to hear about the waitlist? Tomorrow would be the last day they could notify us while still giving us a week to decide. Has anyone heard from waitlist yet?

DS received the following email today:

**We have met our enrollment goals for 2010-11, therefore we will not be able to take applicants from the waitlist.

We appreciate your patience and thank you for participating in the waitlist process. We wish you the best in your educational career.**

So did nobody from the waitlist get in?

i got notified today. same message as ^

its too late to appeal isnt it…

wow, any the only other school with the major i got into is riverside, and san jose state…

this really isn’t going how i wanted it to

^ I would suggest going the community college route. Two years there and you may be able to get into all the UCs.

@uchopeful

i was thinking that
but i have uci’s chp, and i sent my sir there

i could transfer from uci to ucsd, couldnt i?
because i specifically want Bioengineering (or better yet, bioengineering:biotech)

but at uci i have to take biomedical engineering, as they don’t have bioE

It would be much more difficult to go from UCI to UCSD. Community College students get preference. Also, it will be harder to maintain a high GPA at UCI compared to CC.

Maintaining a high GPA is no cakewalk at certain high caliber community colleges, like Santa Monica College for example. I’ve had friends, and sisters, who’ve attended 4 year’s (UC’s included) who claim that SMC prepped them well for university as they find classes to be almost similar in difficulty, if not easier in some instances.

@j

but i would assume the “bell” would be shifted as compared to a UC… i mean that the same person at a UC (maybe a mid-high tier, if not all) would get a lower gpa than at any CC?

@uchopeful

yeah i realized that problem, but my dad doesn’t want me to go CC. anyways, i plan on working really hard in college, and i’m looking at all A’s if possible right now, lol. i was a slacker early on in HS…

maybe ill switch to biochem at uci… bah idk.

Going to a “lower” tiered UC does not equate to having an easier GPA at ALL. What I would have done was gone to a good CC at my area instead of going head on to a UC where my high school failed to prepare me for it.
