Waitlisted at Brown...transfer?

I’m a hs senior who’s been accepted to Cornell, Emory, Notre Dame, BU, and Penn State, and then got waitlisted at Brown and some other ivies. I got rejected at some places, but don’t want to mention those schools. I was very disappointed because Brown was my top choice of college. I intend to remain active on Brown’s waiting list, but I heard it’s pretty hard to get out of the waiting list. In case I don’t get accepted from the Brown’s waiting list, what should I do? I’m going to apply to Brown as a transfer student if they don’t accept me from the waiting list.

1) Go to Cornell, and then transfer to Brown a year later. I’m afraid if this will work since it’s really tough to maintain a good gpa at Cornell.
2) Go to Emory/Notre Dame/BU and then transfer to Brown a year later. It will be easier to get a good gpa at those univs than at Cornell. Which school is the best place to get the highest gpa?
3) Go to Penn State and then transfer to Brown a year later.
4) Take a gap year and reapply to Brown as a freshman. Too risky.

Is it easy to transfer to Brown after freshman year or sophomore year?

I’m thinking of double majoring in Anthropology and International Relations. Thank you in advance!

Boston University has grade deflation.

Go to Cornell - if you think you can be happy there.

The adcom will know exactly how tough it is to get a good GPA at the various schools. Transferring from one Ivy to another is much easier than doing it from a state school like Penn State. If you don't think you can stand Cornell, I'd choose Emory over ND. Remember, though, you have to spend at least a year at whatever school you attend. If you are happy, then you will be more likely to get a good GPA.

You must also consider how you will feel if Brown turns you down for a transfer.

Hey!! SO funny, I am just like you. I got into Columbia out of high school but WL at Brown (didn't get accepted). I went to Columbia, got a 3.35, and got into Brown as a transfer (had awesome college ECs though). I actually ended up attending Dartmouth instead, but that's another story. Oh yeah, I was an anthro major.

My advice is go to Cornell and don't take science classes. Really work hard your first year. Second place, I'd head to Emory.

My guess is if you sort of maintain your ECs and get a 3.5ish+, you should be set for Brown.

Wouldn't consider BU, its not even close to these others.

Go wherever would make you most happy. Don't pick a school because you think it'll be a good stepping stone to Brown. Pick the school based on the possibility that you may have to spend 4 years there (because you might not get into Brown anyway). Which do you think is the best fit for you?

I'd agree with that. They are all great choices (BU is a less great choice).

Thank you everyone for your advice!
