Waitlisted at Stern

I got a response form with 3 options.
2 of which were:

Please place my name on the Wait List. I understand that my application will be either accepted for admission or withdrawn from consideration by June 1, 2005.

Please have an admissions counselor call me to discuss my choices.
I can be reached at:
Best time of day to call:

I checked both....I guess that's not even in the instructions but in the letter, it said to check the third choice to discuss the admission status with a Stern rep and I DO want to be on the waiting list...does this make any sense to you?

Also, what is the best way to become admitted from the wait list? Who do I address a letter to? Is it a good idea to send constant update e-mails to admissions?

I applied thorugh C-Step and found out I was waitlisted to Stern as well today. Does anyone know how many waitlist students NYU takes?

i think 1600 were waitlisted and they took 60 last year. I expect the waitlist to be bigger this year. Thats all schools combined

i'm wondering if those 1600 were those that actually put their name on the waitlist, or if they were just waitlisted by NYU

im pretty sure that the # of people that opted to put their name on the waitlist
