waitlisted at two top choice schools, help me pick a third choice :)

I found out awhile ago that I was waitlisted at my top choice school,University of Wisconsin Madison, but was not incredibly upset as I figured that I would at least get in to my backup University of Minnesota Twin Cities and would have some of my stress relieved as I waited to find out if I could get off the waitlist at Madison. Surprisingly, I was also waitlisted at Minnesota. I don't feel that I should have been waitlisted as I know several people with stats nd ECs far below minem but there seems to be nothing I can do except wait to get off the two waitlists. Though I think I'll get into at least ONE of the schools, I feel like I must have a backup, and am now trying to make some decisions about some other schools.

I'm basically trying to decide between Missouri-Columbia, where I have been accepted and Michigan State where I have yet to apply. I'm an aspiring journalism major so I applied to Missouri as it's the top journalism school on many national ranking lists, but I am now not sure if I want to go that far away from home (I'm from wisconsin) and am questioning the quality of Missouri's all-around academincs. Can anyone help me compare Missouri-Columbia to Michigan state University (ranked 8th or 9th top journalism school).

Here are some of my criteria in a school:
-Highly ranked journalism program (top 10)
-Good all-around academic reputation/highly ranked all-around
-In a medium-large size city
-Large student body
-Public
-Big athletics (I especially like the Big 10)
-Lively student body (not a suitcase college, people who go out and are friendly)

And here are my stats:
GPA (unweighted): 3.76
Class rank: top 23%
ACT: 28 but retaking
ECs: very good. Lots of leadership. NHS, Student Council, Big Brothers Big sisters etc.

I definitely want to go to Madison and am keeping Minnesota as a second choice, but since both are uncertain for me right now any help chosing between Missouri and Michigan State as a third choice would be so helpful. Thanks in advance!

UGA, Syracuse, Georgetown i've heard are good

i don't know that much about michigan state, but it seems that umich ann arbor would be a good fit for you... you might want to look into that a little further
