Thanks.
So I just found out I got waitlisted today. Iām sure thereās hope? And I was surprised to see their new admit rate was 9.5%ā¦
@gummyworms57ā
If there wasnāt hope, I wouldnāt be here. See what happens!
If I accept my waitlist offer does it mean I have to attend for certain if I get in?
@gummyworms57ā Thatās the RD admit rate. The actual is 11%.
@SurvivorFanā Common data set says last year 6,000 were waitlisted, 4500 of which accepted the waitlist
Also, what do the forms they send ask for? Do they want 3MP grades?
@gummyworms57ā The waitlist is non-binding.
When my D was accepted off the wait list four years ago, they gave her one week to decide whether to take the spot.
@Matt846ā
It seems possible that 4500 accepted the spot, but, keep in mind that not everyone who gets in off the waitlist will come to Vanderbilt. They give you one day to confirm that you are still interested in VU, telling you that they are āprepared to offer you admissionā and then three days to decide after the formal offer. I have no idea the exact number accepted off the waitlist, but there is a real chance, especially if you are willing to play the waitlist game. No, they do not request 3rd quarter grades, but you are welcome to send them if you think it will help. I chose to go with an additional recommendation instead to show my interest (didnāt want to show that my Calc BC grade had dropped to a C+) and sent one or two emails to my counselor. As for the forms, they may periodically send a āclick here to confirm your interest in Vanderbiltā, as interest is key for playing the waitlist game. I played it and won, but I canāt claim to have a fool-proof system, as, like with ED or RD admissions, there is a lot of luck involved. Best of luck!
Well, I sent an email to my counselor that just reaffirmed my interest, explained that I was going to be named salutatorian, and outlined my great results at the state debate tournament. Hopefully, just the act of doing that will work in my favor.
Do they call you before offering a spot or do they just send an email?
I just got an email when I got off last year.
D got a call at home.
Where can I submit additional materials?
I would send additional materials directly to your admissions counselor.
Has anyone received any follow-up emails about the waitlist yet?
Iām waitlisted at A&S, but I asked to be switched to Peabody. I wonder how that will impact my chancesā¦ Iām leaning more towards a career in education policy, so Peabody would be an awesome choice.
My Dās program overlaps with a program at Peabody (cog. Studies/neuroscience) but she applied A&Sā¦Iām wondering if she should tell her counselor she would accept a spot at either school? (Currently wait listed A&S). Or, does that seem too wishy-washy?
They sent an email asking for a response earlier this week. Did you all get one?
I didnāt get one
