Ok, I know this topic has been beaten to death, but this isn't really a "Grr, I hate Washu!!" post, this is more of "Aw, I feel sad" kind of post. Well, somewhat.

It's just that I've worked really hard in high school. And you know, being waitlisted was fine for me since I'd gotten into some other schools I'd really liked. It was hearing about someone at school who'd gotten a $20,000 scholarship at Washu that upset me. I just feel like I've put a lot more work into the last four years of my life than he has. I've been more involved with clubs and competitions, I've taken more challenging courses, I've done research for two summers, I'm higher in rank and test scores... (And mind you, I DIDN'T do all these things just to boost my resume.)

I feel a little indignant.

I just wanted to vent. That's all. Thanks for listening.

I've felt the same way in the past and, that said, try not to let yourself get too down about it. Ultimately, the particular school you go to doesn't compare in the slightest to what you individually put into and take from your education (whichever school that education may come from). Judging from the honest effort you say you've personally put into your studies/activities, I think you can consider yourself someone who will succeed no matter what school you go to!

well are there other possible reasons for that person getting it?

and was the 20,000 dollar scholarship just part of that person's financial package? im assuming so because no scholarships have been awarded yet except in financial packages. i received a large 20,000+ dollar scholarship in my financial package that mixes "academic merit with financial need". basically they give you a "scholarship" to match up your finaid amount. that's probably what it is because im pretty sure no scholarships have been awarded yet from the competitive, big ones.
