Waitlisted from Dartmouth... what now?

wait if you haven’t gotten a call yet is that bad news? or is their still a chance?

also if you got that aforementioned e-mail about how dartmouth may not go to wait list but your candidacy is still in consideration does that mean anything?

Yale has started accepting people from the waitlist. This can have a ripple effect that may open up some more spots at Dartmouth. Harvard and Princeton may activate their WLs as well with the same ripple effect.

since the first round came out last friday, and usually people have a week to respond, I’m guessing that the earliest we’ll hear about round 2 is this friday.

Hi–my son is waitlisted, did everyone, including the people admitted last week get the email saying “it is possible that no spots will become available…” or did it just go to the people NOT admitted last week? Is there any hidden signal in this email?

There’s no hidden message… if you didn’t get in last week, you didn’t get in last week (I didn’t get in last week). I think everyone still on the waitlist (i.e. those who didn’t already get accepted) got this e-mail.

Pretty depressing! But it’s unlikely there will be no spots–as standrews and sharm implied, a few more spots should open up as people decline their offers of admission or get off waitlists at other schools…

My DD received an email from Dartmouth today. Guess its the same one. I was surprised the email says she can send in updates to her file at this point (in case they do go to the WL). Seems kind of late for people to send in updates if they don’t expect to make more offers.

Harvard has said they expect to take “10 or 15” from their wait list this year. Last year it was “65 to 75.”

If I sent in an update after the second “no spots” email…do you think it will be considered, or is it really too late.

Also, when do you think the second wave of acceptances (assuming they still have spots open) will be sent?

Got in off Waitlist last week. Not sure what to do now. Stay at Columbia or go to Dartmouth. I’m leaning Dartmouth.

^Send Slipper1234 a PM. He transferred from Columbia to Dartmouth, so he might have some valuable insight into your situation

You should definitely send an update in; the waitlist process could go on till the end of June, so there is no harm doing it now.

Was above posters acceptance in the “first round” or “second round”?

Im almost positive that only the first round has happened so far. can anyone confirm?

I have the feeling there weren’t too many people in the “first” round, so there were even fewer in the second round–and now we’re probably just waiting on people who are waitlisted at other schools. Let’s hope my pessimism is wrong though!

Has anyone called the admissions office or heard from their guidance counselor whether there will be another round of acceptances?

anyone heard anything?

Good luck waitlisters (potential future classmates)!

has the second round happening? I know the chances are likely non-existent at this point…but does anyone know how many people dartmouth actually took off the wait list. It seems like a pretty small number.

I wonder why they haven’t released the yield rate yet…
