<p>So they already hit their desired class size, and then accepted 50 people of the (enormous) waitlist in anticipation of people taking gap years/getting off waitlists elsewhere/etc. Not looking good. :(</p>
<p>It seems like a lot more people accepted their waitlist offers than they did in previous years. I’m kinda wondering how they read all 1800 of our applications in ~5 days…</p>

<p>Two things: </p>
<ol>
<li><p>That D article was published May 20 - a couple weeks after offers were made. You have no idea what their yield on first WL offers were so you shouldn’t be so bummed out.</p></li>
<li><p>Maybe they knew they were going to the WL well before May 1 (a la Princeton, Harvard)… hence, reading 1800 applications amongst a staff of 15+ isn’t that unrealistic.</p></li>

<p>Last year, around this time, they sent an email either rejecting each applicant or putting them on an extended waitlist… So, I guess it isn’t over until we hear from them…</p>

<p>I got it too. The bad news is that we missed another wave… the good news is that there’s still hope…</p>
<p>Will Dartmouth EVER release us from the waitlist? I mean, if they don’t want us, why keep us hanging by a thread for so long?</p>
