@Osserpusser I’m not sure about that number. I would not be surprised if it were true. If my memory serves me right, there was a recent year where they waitlisted over 10,000 students. Since the university has made it clear that they want to use a waitlist this year, I could definitely see that figure as plausible. One figure that I do know is the number of applicants. Over 50,000. From what I know, the acceptance rate should finally fall below 30% this year.
@derprage To be honest, I’m not sure what to tell you. There does not appear to be much you can do about it. It really just depends on where you fall on the list.
@kiwirocks Paying an enrollment deposit does not lock you into one school. It just allows the university to consider you apart of their class for planning purposes. This allows the university to know how many students they can approximately expect on campus in the fall, and it allows them to reach out to these students to start the next steps in the process. With this said, put down an enrollment deposit at your daughter’s top school to secure a spot. If she gets into Michigan, the worst that can happen is you losing the enrollment deposit.
@Miw140 is correct. Just remember to
unenroll from her first deposited school before sending any off-the-waitlist deposit. You won’t get your deposit back, but you can’t be enrolled at two schools. My friend’s son was denied from both schools by failing to notify school #1!
@Osserpusser I definitely will keep that in mind as well.
Thanks
