I just got my ED 2 result and I have been put on the waitlist. Tulane’s my top choice but I’m wondering if they even take anyone from the waitlist and if I should wait until June 1st.
Accept the WL position now. Continue to update your application, and if you win any awards, improve your grades, etc., let them know. Lots of seniors slack off, so an upward trend now is your friend. ED applicants are appealing to take from the WL because they often agree to come.
In the meantime, you will need to accept a spot by 4/30 at another school. You will forfeit the deposit there if Tulane comes through, which you should not count on.
In a nutshell, you want to give Tulane a compelling reason to take you from the WL should an opening become available while embracing another school because the WL is beyond your control and may or may not move for you.
And just to put things in perspective I’m pretty sure Tulane has not taken anyone from the WL in the past few years. Enrollment has been at an all time high.
@dolphnlvr6 is correct. For the 2 years I’ve been at Tulane, every year we get an email titled “Bigger and Brighter than ever.” This is not to say they won’t ever take people off the waitlist; things are different every year. If Tulane is your top choice, make it clear. Many times at Tulane, interest out weighs stats. So in summary: one, show your passionate interest in Tulane, and two, do look for other schools you are interested in. If you do not get off the waitlist, attend another university for a semester or two, and then you can transfer to Tulane. Transfer students have the same opportunities for financial aid as continuing students.
this was from Jeff’s blog last year…

At every school, WL activity varies from year to year. In fact, not going to the WL one year can stress a campus enough (particularly housing) that they deliberately under accept the next year to make sure the class is exactly the size they want. So what happened in the last few years is the reason to make good plans that don’t involve Tulane, but it doesn’t mean there won’t be WL activity this year. They DO have a WL after all. The blog above supports this.
Thank you all for your responses! I know it will be near impossible to get off of the WL, but I will try my hardest to attend Tulane next year!
Hey! I applied EA, got deferred, and then waitlisted. Has anyone heard anything about the waitlist yet?
They closed the waitlist I just heard back
