Hello guys!
I'm an international transfer applicant from CC in Boston!

I got an email from MHC yesterday, and found that my name is on their waitlist.
Does anyone have any idea about it?
Is there any possibility to be accepted??
Or Is there anyone who is in a same situation?
I'm really dissapointed and sad. T-T

I applied FA, and I'm just thinking that it could be one reason why I'm on the waitlist..
I could be wrong though...
Well, any comment? T-T??
What should I do now.. T-T
Is it good for me to visit the school and meet the admission officers??? or is it useless??
What can I do now.. I really want to go MHC...T-T

Oh and BTW, is there a priority waitlist??? I really wanna cry if there is. T-T
Because they just said, ‘we have decided to place your name on our wait
list.’…

I was also waitlisted for transfer admissions, which was surprising. I didn’t even finish my application yet! They were still missing my college report; it probably got misprocessed and I e-mailed them whether or not they still want that and my midterm report.

I had good stats, so I’m wondering if something else was up with my app. Maybe my essays or rec weren’t so great…I also applied for fin aid, and since I have a rather low EFC and know that Mount Holyoke’s only need-aware, I’m kind of worried whether or not MHC gives aid to waitlistees if they get off the waitlist.

Oh, and when did you apply? I applied 3/1…which is the priority deadline…so I’m also wondering if they just filled out all the spots before getting to my app.

And I’m pretty disappointed with the decision too…probably means I won’t be able to visit if I get off the waitlist. (I live in CA)

I haven’t found any numbers about transfer waitlists, whether or not MHC uses them really. I think a majority of transfer acceptees enroll though, not sure if that’s a good or bad thing for us. Good luck…

I’m on the same boat…waitlisted…
I heard in the past MH didn’t want any additional information like spring grades and extra recommendations
But i was wondering if that still applies for 2010
And is there a chance they can accept students off waitlist before May 1st?

birldhouse> I remember that I applied last week of Feb… Well… today, I got an email from them, and they said waitlisted students are eligible for FA, but funds are limited.
T-T… They also said that they hope to notify the final decision by late May or early June …

I think my stat was pretty good, and they even said to me that there was nothing lacking in my application. My passion for MHC was clear, and I’ve done good work at my CC… But I can’t understand what was the problem… T-T
It could be my financial situation… I guess…

BTW, Holdahand! Do they really hate those new information and letters? T-T
I guess there is no chance to know about the final decision befoe May 1st.

Hmmmm… What should we do now…? I’m desparate~~~T-T

really?!? late may to june?! -___-
&funds are limited? great…more and more reasons why i should just stop here…:P

I actually sent an email asking if they will accept additional information like recs and recent accomplishments
I’ll let you know when i get a reply

I got the exact same info from an e-mail from the office this morning…but they didn’t even answer my question about midterm grades. I thought they wanted them? Oh well, one less form then.

I’ve got an email today and they said it is not necessary to send any additional materials.
Well… if they say so, maybe I shouldn’t do it… right???
How do you think birdhouse?
I wanna get any advice from anyone. T-T

When you accepted the wait list offer, it said you could send extra materials to waitlist@mtholyoke.edu. Might as well! Bug the hell out of them. ;)

Everytime I call the Admissions Office to ask if students are accepted off the waitlist before May 1, 2010, I can never get in touch with someone with a definite answer.

I think there’s a chance for the transit waitlist to move a little before May 1st (I’m not sure what this depends on - how many people in the classes of 2012 and 2013 announce they’re going to transfer/drop out?) . But for freshman waitlists, of course not. May 1st is the response deadline, and the admissions people need to figure out if there are any seats left to offer for waitlistees and how many exactly. They wouldn’t start giving away seats before they’re sure of how many they have left, since they don’t want to overenroll (potential housing and class size/enrollment problems) or underenroll (losing money that would come out of tution). That’s my opinion, anyway. (Are you a freshman or a transfer? You didn’t say…)

Oh no! :[
Does this mean I will have to put a deposit down at another school before May 1, 2010 and then see if Mount Holyoke accepts me?
If they do accept me, I just lose the deposit money, right?
I am a freshman, by the way. :]
